Lightbulb

I see that Acroname (http://www.acroname.com/) has finally begun shipping the Palm Pilot Robot Kit developed by the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Institute (http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~reshko/PILOT/). This little pup looks cool, but since it uses a serial input I'm curious as to whether it will work with a Visor. Has anyone tried it yet?

don't think it will work because the (USB) port of the visor is different than the (serial) port of the Palm(s)

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

It should work fine if you get a serial cable that is available (check markspace.com). I have a serial cable that I built from plans posted in an old topic on this bbs, and have use it to communicate with modems and other electronic equipment at work. Do a search (see the search box at the top of visorcentrals main screen) on rs232 or serial cable and you should come up with something, sorry I do not have the URL's availble for you.

Anyway, if you can build the robot you should be able to get a serial cable to work.

The do-it-yourself serial cable instructions can be found here.

As for the robot, if the interface only needs TX and RX signals, the Visor should work.

Lightbulb mwaaahaa haha

I found a remote control tank at Toys-R-Us for $30 buck that uses both radio control and ....... IR control. So I am going to try to find the some palm IR source code. And then my robot tank($30 + cost of modifications(modifications should be like $5-10 max )) Will come for your Holonomic robot($250). And we will see who spent their evil genius allowence money more wisely.

btw found the link for that tank:

Evil geniuses kick ass.
