XP and my VISOR now seem to love me

Got XP & Visor Prism working... finally!...the way in which I had to do it was a bit stange but it works so listen if you want yours too

here it is..

0.Go grab the Palm desktop installer 4.01 from handspring site.

1.Uninstall all the usb **** you have loaded into XP and the palm desktop software if you have it installed already.

2. Unplug the usb **** from your hub/box whatever and shutdown

3. While your puter is off plug JUST the visor (not any other usb devices) in and fire that sucker up!

4. Now Xpee should tell you it has found new hardware "Handspring device"....let it go and let if find your hardware for you...it should find the VisorUSB device.

5. Hit ok and let that go. !!OK HERES WHERE IT GETS A WEE BIT ODD!! now you will get an error asking for a file called VisorUSB.sys...but Xp doesnt have it....no worries

6. Now just leave that open and go run the Palm Desktop software installer.(the one you already have cause' i told you to in step 0 right?)..let it go right up until it asks you to perform a hotsync.

7. Now go back to the device installer window and browse to the handspring directory you just made installing the desktop software --> in a folder called Drivers you will find that VisorUSB.sys file--> highlight it , hit ok and let it go

8. Xp should now have installed the handspring device properly and you can close that install.

9. Now go back to the Palm Desktop installer and hit the hot sync button on your Visor. KABOOM it should go

10. Now open up your palm mail and write a letter to handspring and bill gates telling them that you own them now.. and next time they had better get this weak **** right!

hope this helps someone

Can you clarify what you mean by step 1. Do you mean unistall the "Unknow Device" which is the Visor from under USB Devices under Device Manager? Is that it?

Well, I ended up doing a clean install of XP again and the first thing I installed was Palm Desktop and my old Deluxe synced like a champ. I think one of my programs was causing a problem or something.

Yeah!
