Got my SoundsGood a few days ago (thank you PalmGear!) and it's been working great until tonight I tried to put some long songs on it ('Close to the Edge' and 'All of the Above' for those interested in prog rock) and it wouldn't work. At first there was some kind of warning on the computer screen and after a few tries I got a "FtcDriver .c, Line:5008, unhandled command" fatal error on the Visor and had to soft reset. Any help is appreciated

I also had some problems initially. Here are the responses that I took from the good.com page. The first one was the problem that I had.

1. At the moment you are only able to transfer music files which are 14MB or smaller to the audioplayer. This will be fixed in the next revision. Check good.com often for future software updates and upgrades.

2. The Upload command will not upload songs that have certain characters in the song title field of the MP3 track id tag. If you are having a problem uploading a song, check the original song�s MP3 tag. If it has any of the following characters, < > / \ | ? : * , you cannot upload it. To avoid this problem, you will need to edit the MP3 tag on your computer before you download it to your Visor.

superfly, just split the files up to less that 14 megs. Decode, cut and paste, re-encode. Easy.

Or you could just sell me your Soundsgood.

More Music

Another option is this:

When you save your music to your computer you are probably saving it at 128 kbs, which is CD quality sound. Using 128kbs, you can download about 1 hours worth of music.

I typically save my music at 96 kbs, which is less than CD quality, I don't personally notice a difference in sound quality. The advantage is that large files are reduced which means can load them onto the SG player. It also means you can store more tunes since they take up less space. I typcially get about 90 minutes on mine.

I am sure that is all probably very confusing. Perhaps someone can explain it better. But at least it is a start.

The 14 meg problem is odd, I am listening to a 18 meg mp3 right now on my SoundsGood!! Is this limited to certain types?? I don't know what I am doing different that is allowing this to work?
