Not sure why, but no one seemed to mention this yet.

IBIZ has a folding cradle for the Visor. It looks like it works with both USB and serial. CompUsa has it this week for $29.99. Just thought I would let people know before they spend their money on a serial cradle that they can have both serial and USB for the same price.

I doubt that it will work with the Prism since the Prism won't work with a standard cradle. This is because the lower rear of the Prism case is larger than the VDx's due to the internal battery.

beyond cradles?!?!

Wouldn't it be possible to have a plug + cable set up for hotsyncing? Dragging a cradle around is a drag--anybody out there know of a product that moves in this direction?

Handspring has a USB cable. It's also available at Staples and CompUSA.

Cables 'n Cradles

Mark: Thanks for your quick reply. I don't know why I missed this before, but the cable is exactly what I'm looking for (unfortunately, I already have a cradle ...)

I don't get this product.

1. What am I supposed to do with the other face plates? I can understand not wanting to manufacture 5 different colored cradles, but making me buy all 5 comes accross as though they didn't want to bother with selling "For Orange Visor" packages.

2. I don't think most people work with the Visor in the cradle, so I don't know why they make it 'tilt', unless it was just a side-effect of being "collapsable".

3. I can't think of any reason why I'd want this over a travel cable.

Oh well.

That's probably the reason.

Well, it does have both USB and serial... a plus for those that need both (and don't already have the Handspring serial cradle). I'm also guessing that it might be more compact than a standard cradle, making it more suitable for mobile use.

Besides, don't you just need to have all the latest and greatest gadgets that go with the Visor?

It is probably cheaper to include all 5 faceplates then it to create (and track, and get shelf space for) a single item as opposed to 5. The incremental cost of those extra faceplates is probably pennies, and as one who has "some experience" in the retail biz, I'm sure the cost of the shelf space outweighs that by a large margin. Also if you buy a different colored visor, you don't have to buy a new cradle!

I wouldn't mind my visor sitting up a little straighter in its cradle, as I keep the cradle on top of my monitor, due to a lack of desk space. It would be easier to check hotsync progress.

3. I can't think of any reason why I'd want this over a travel cable.

Oh well.

That's why they make Chocolate and Vanilla. I'd rather use that than a travel cable. I had the travel cable for my Palm and I could never keep it together when I was trying to work in a small space.

I will buy this, as the USB cradle works with my laptop at home but not my NT computer at work. I have been putting off getting a cable for work and this will do double duty. (for work and traveling)
Its weird you cant find this directly from their main website and only CompUSA has it.
