Hi,

I know I've seen this before in another thread, but I'm still having problems with my Visor Deluxe causing Windows 2000 Pro to lockup when syncing on USB. Actually, it happens even before I hit the sync button on the cradle, it happens when the Visor is being set onto the contacts. The desktop freezes up and I have to do a cold reboot.

I'm running HS Mgr 3.1.0H and Desktop 3.1, which I've reinstalled a couple of times hoping that the newest versions would resolve the problem. For a while, I thought it only happened at home (Athlon 800MHz) but it's happened once on my work machine (Pentium IV 1000 MHz). There's never anything interesting in the Event Viewer after the fact.

So what gives? Sorry if it's a FAQ...

I think the final consensus was that the problem is not software, but static electricity. That the individual has a static charge on them and when the place the Visor in the cradle they discharge through the Visor, the USB port, to the computer, causing the reset. To avoid this touch something large and metal before putting the Visor in the cradle, this should remove any static change you may have on your person.

Hi,

Thanks for the information; it makes sense. Looks I'll go off to Radio Shack and get some braid or a static strap so I can run a ground line to the computer chassis from the cradle.
