"Microsoft isn't the only handheld platform with wireless access in mind. Novatel already offers a $329 wireless modem for the Palm III, and in August the company expects to ship a $369 modem for the color Palm IIIc and a $329 springboard add-on for the Handspring Visor. Nextcell also plans to offer a CompactFlash modem add-on when TRG ships a Palm-based device with CompactFlash support."

One of the software companies in town gave me a demo of some of the wireless applications they are developing for the Palm IV. If you haven't played with one yet...do! They certainly make any non-wirless PDA seem ancient.
I am eagerly awaitng the arrival of a wireless springboard for the visor (though, at $329, I may have to wait a bit longer...)

I'm actually currently working for a company that does wireless palm service and applications - and have talked with folks here who know the novatel people very well. My impression is that the novatel minstrel modem that's coming out for the visor will be similar to the palm version - a "wraparound" unit that the whole visor will be seated in. As far as I know it WON'T be a springboard module. Sorry guys.

What do you mean sorry ? The more expansion options the better. If it is not a springboard then then it will use the IR port or the usb . Meaning that we will be able to load up something into the springboard slot as well as be connected up through the visor-minstrel. If it connects up through the usb hopefully there will be a passthrough so I can use my stowaway.
