Hello all:

Thanks to all the folks who've taken the time to help out this Palm newbie here. You guys have made a difference. Whew!!!

I do have some burning questions, though.

1) I understand how to download a Palm application and install it on my Visor. HOWEVER, if I find the app unsatisfactory, there seems no way to delete it from my Visor. Can anyone tell me how this can be done? I don't see any installed programs anywhere in the Palm folder on my desktop (Mac), which is why I asked.

2) If I install a program (let's say a game), I can't seem to get it into the Games category. How do I move it into that category?

3) Is it possible to delete a program like Expense, or would it cause the Palm OS to go awry on my Visor? I have absolutely NO need for such a program on my Visor.

4) I've discovered how much I like Datebook+, but isn't it possible to delete the original Datebook so I can have FEWER icons cluttering my screen?

5) Isn't there an utility somewhere that tells you how much of the RAM is being taken up by all the applications installed on the Visor? (I have over 700 contacts in my Visor Deluxe.)

Those are all some great questions..

1. To delete, simply go into the APP menu (on the Visor) (click on the menu button and then select App/Delete) click on the item you wish to remove and hit the DELETE button

2. To organize, go under App/Category .. select the category you want each item to be under..

3/4. From what I have heard, the default applications are not able to be removed from the Visor. I am not sure why they decided to have two datebooks preinstalled -- however, I am glad that it does have Datebook+ -- I use it all the time also..

5. Under the App/Delete menu, at the top it tells you how much free space you have on the Visor.. It breaks it down by application (which is handy)..

FYI -- I use a launcher replacement called "LauncherIII" .. it allows drag and drop organizing of the applications. For apps such as Expense and Datebook that I don't use, I made up a tab in LauncherIII for those infrequent/never used apps so they don't clutter my screen. This is handy since it does not have an ALL category like the default launcher. You can get this (freeware) from palmgear.com or another Palm software site (it is very popular)

You can't delete the pre-installed apps.

The reason there is still datebook original is because Datebook+ doesn't support beaming. Just move Datebook to unfiled category as most people do.

another tip about datebook +.

You can assign it to launch when you push the on your viso by going into preferences.

Hes saying if you go to Preferances>buttons you can set the Datebook button to launch Datebook+, instead of the old datebook.

I think thats what he meant at least...

The best advice for organizing your VDX is to add LauncherIII. It is free, and is very dynamic.

You set tabs or folders. You have the option of labelling the top of each tab. Then you drag each icon to the tab that you want. Leave one tab for the "old-undeleted-unused" apps, so that they are out of the way.

There is also a tool icon at the bottom that will delete a program if you drag the program icon to the tool. And, in the center of the bottom, there is a readout that tells you how much remaining memory you have on your VDX, and what the remaining battery life is.

You should get it.
