If I buy the 8MB springboard module for my standard 2MB visor, does that mean I will have 10MB of useable memory, or is the additional 8MB only for storage? I mean is it fully functional memory, or what?

Chakthi: I guess you are talking about the Flash Springboard Module. I have not heard of a normal RAM expansion module � la Palm IIIx for the Visor.
The answer: yes and no. You will certainly be able to use the additional 8 MB for storage purposes, but you can as far as I know also run programs from the module, but not all. You will only be able to run software from there that doesn't change the data while it is running, as the programs itself cannot change the data in the flash memory. (If I am wrong, please somebody correct me, as I don't have the module myself)
You can definitely put ebooks and other data that will not be changed (in other words read-only "stuff") in the flash memory. If you want 8 "real" Megs like the Deluxe module has, you might better think about memory expansion - but I'm afraid you would void your warranty, even if you let some commercial oufit do the job.

The 8MB module is "fully functional memory" but, since it is flash, you won't be able to use programs/DB's which change or write to themselves as they are accessed. In other words, don't put documents you expect to edit into the module; you can put copies of them in, however. Many games run fine from the module. You can copy your AddressDB, ToDoDB, DateBookDB, and MemoDB to the module, too, for safekeeping in case of hard reset.

By the way, if you copy the DB's for the basic Visor functions to the module and end up adding memos, addresses, etc. to the device, you can re-copy the DB's to the module and they will overwrite the old ones (as long as you tap OK when File Mover asks you if you want to).

I have a whole bunch of documents and images in my module, as well as several games. My document readers and image viewer don't allow editing, so not only are the docs and images in the module, so are the readers!
