I use my Stowaway while my VP is turned on, but not for sending wireless data.

Why?

I'd heard about problems with some items and serial ports.

For instance:

You cannot use OmniRemote while the VP is in, it says that the serial port is in use. I don't want to have to pull the VP out just to use the keyboard.

If you care, the technical reason for that is that the Visor has only 1 serial control chip (UART). It can be used for either the serial port connector OR the IR beam. However, VP connects via the springboard and does not use the serial port at all. Glad to help.
