Verizon, SMTP & RTFM!!!

I think I found the holy SMTP grail for Verizon service users. It was right there in the friendly manual the whole time. If you use Verizon's Quick 2 Net dial up to surf and check mail, you've ran into the problem of not being able to access your ISP's STMP (send mail) server, since you're not on their dialup. Well, in the Verizon Mobile Office manual, I found that Verizon provides a SMTP server for us to use! It's smtp.airtouch.net !!!
I just found this out, and haven't had a chance to try it yet (my cable is at home), but I will be when I go home for lunch. BTW my set up is: Red Edge, Samsung N150 phone, and a www.thesupplynet.com cable, using Eudora.

Question Sprint PCS?

Cool! Does anyone know if anything like this exsist for Sprint customers? Now that GopherKing is starting to charge for their service I need to find an alternative.

I just verified the info that I posted this morning, and it works like a charm! I'm really digging this wireless thing now!

Dave, I have no idea about Sprint's services, one of the reasons that I chose Verizon for their Mobile Office setup.

Umm...glad you found that information out but that information has actually been well-documented in other forums for the Kyocera 6035 (www.qcp6035.com) and the Samsung I300 (www.sphi300.com) Palm OS smartphones. You can also use the server mail.airbridge.net

Marty

P.S. These servers can also be used by folks using Sprint, no problem. Only thing you have to remember, is, that for the Eudora email client, to change a setting under the "security" tab for the account that you are using to "don't authenticate" otherwise you will be asked for a username and password that you don't have when sending email.

I'm using SprintPCS QNC with my own SMTP server and it works fine. I think they lifted the restriction a few months ago.

Question Verizon ???

I just purchased a cable to connect my Kyocera2035a to my Platinum. All my Prefs are set up according to spec (www.markspace.com). I cannot connect and keep getting the error: "Error: PPP time out ..."
I do not subscribe to Mobile Office or Mobile IP at all. Any suggestions? Many thanks.

Not anymore...

It appears that these two SMTP options for SprintPCS customers no longer work. I read somewhere that airbridge now requires authentication (Verizon probably got wise to what was going on)... and I just get time-out errors with airtouch.

SprintPCS really needs to do something about this... especially with the release of the Digital Link which automatically sets itself up to use the SprintPCS QNC.
