Visorphone to NT RAS

Can someone help me connect my visorphone to my work's NT RAS dialup?

I can connect from my home PC just fine. When I try to use my visorphone, it appears to dial, but just sits at the "Dialing NT RAS".

Are there any documents that show step by step instructions on setting this up?

Do I need any init strings? For connection should I be using "Standard Modem"?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Are you able to connect your VP to any other dialup?

I haven't tried...I have a cable modem and just want something for when I travel. So I don't have any other ISP to try.

But, if I put my phone number in, instead of my work RAS number, it will ring my phone. So I know it is dialing the number.

So once it says "dialing...", press the hardware "Down" button. That should give you some more status messages.

I hit the down button and it says,
"Dialing NT RAS
972-xxx-xxxx"

It just stays there for about 2 minutes, then says "Retrying" and dials again.

And if you dial that number from your home phone, what happens?

If I dial in from my PC, everything works fine.

Couple new things. I set up a RAS server on my home PC and when my Visorphone dials my PC, I can hear my PC pick up the call and attempt to handshake. Then after about 15 seconds, gets a steady, high pitched sound, then disconnects.

Also, I got a Worldnet dial up number and called that, it worked fine, asked for a password and everything(even though I don't have one). I just wanted to see what would happen.

Does anyone know what the hardware settings on my RAS server should be. Like the 8,N,1 etc.

Thanks

Network setting

Hm, RAS?

What LAN protocol you have set? TCP/IP, NetBIOS, or IPX/SPX?

What DUN protocol you have set? PPP, SLIP, or using PPTP over it?

Do you think that Palm ROM OS Net setting support those by default?

Do you run DHCP? or if you would be able to set a static IP for RAS LAN connection?

We are using TCP/IP.

I have the Visorphone set to PPP.

The thing is, the VP won't even handshake with the modems. It will try, but the connection winds up getting dropped.

I tried to set up my WIN ME PC with RAS a few weeks ago but gave up once I dialed into Voicestream successfully. I experienced the same results you describe. I was able to Hotsync, however, but only with RAS disabled.

I was also able to dial into my work RAS without a problem. That was an NT server.

I heard that Win XP has some additional functionality for RAS. Might be something to look into.
