Question

Anyone used a Visor Deluxe and a Palm IIIc on the same machine? I'm wondering if there are any problems introduced in the syncing when you install the IIIc's version of Palm Desktop/Hotsync.

I needed to get a IIIc for some work I'm doing where I'll need to check out some color software, but I'm keeping the Visor as my primary organizer. I don't like the rechargeable battery, for one thing -- I'd rather know I can toss in a pair of AAAs if I run it down on the plane. Plus I have my Springboard modem, Stowaway, etc...

I really hope that when Handspring does color, they find a way to do a removable battery pack. I don't have any objection to rechargeables (I use NiMH batts in my Visor), but I do want to be able to pop out the battery and replace it, as I can do with my laptop.

Unhappy

Just in case anyone's interested, the way to share a Palm and Visor on the same machine seems to be to just leave the Handspring version of Palm Desktop in place. If you install the update that comes with the Palm IIIc, you lose USB hotsync capabilities.

The bummer here, though, is that the Palm's already-slow serial hotsync is halved to 56k bps, the fastest supported by the Visor's serial hotsync software, rather than the 112k that newer Palm OS versions manage.
