When the SM card is in, can you attach the hard case to the Visor?

Do you lucky guys who already have your memplugs have a plan for how to do a 'full' backup of HS 8mb plus memplug smc? I mean, most likely the memplug will not be kept seperate from visor like my HS backup mod. I plan to place many docs and pics on the memplug.

If we lose the visor and memplug, is there no recourse?

Couldn't you just keep a separate backup SM card and a separate SM card for loading big files and databases?

Lightbulb

Buy a USB reader (~25 bucks) and back them up to HD or CDROM.

I don't know if you mean the hard case that snaps on. But you can snap it on the top, because the catch for that hard cover is above the module slot. But you cannot snap it on the bottom properly. The memplug is thicker than your average module.

My trifold leather case uses the same snap in as the hard cover. Which is actually a hard cover sewn into the leather lining. Luckily, when you try to snap it in, it catches on the beveled part of the memplug and holds the visor in place. Not ideal, but better than wasting the $40 I spent on the leather case.

If that is no help at all, then I don't know. . .

Lightbulb Backordered Tag Gone

The "Backordered" tag is gone at Palmgear. Could this mean they've actually caught up?

Yes, that is what I wanted to know. Thanks for the post. I have a Handspring leather case that uses a snap-on cover to hold the Visor in. I almost ordered the Memory plug (first design), until I found out the case wouldn't fit. I really like the case I'm using, so the Memory plug was a no-go.

Talking No longer backordered!?!

I just did my daily check of Palm Gear's web site, and the MemPlug is no longer listed as backordered! Could it be true. I hope I get an email soon saying that my order shipped. Keeping fingers crossed!

Well Javabird, my trifold leather case is the handspring model that uses the hard cover snap in attachment (sorry for the redundancy). But it works out. It catches well enough on the beveled part of the memplug. If you take it in and out frequently, then I would agree that it could be problematic. However, if you keep it in, give it a go. Maybe try finding a friend with one to test drive it. The thickness it sticks out of the back is dead on the thickness of a penny. I'd say try sticking a penny underneath your visor (but then you wouldn't have the top part of the memplug to serve as an alternative catch).

I don't know, maybe the memplug CF adapter won't be so protruding. I haven't been following all the threads that closely. But if so, then there you go. Excellent software springboard module combined with first rate customer relations. Which from my interactions, the people at Innogear have been severly lacking.

Mike,
You're the first kid on our block to get your memplug (of course, you cheated and by-passed PG.)

So..........
What did you put on it first?

Where you elated to see your info screen showing 'ooooodles'(right word?) of space? If I had a memplug, I could look up a better word in my thesaurus.

Have you made adjustments for the time lag? Maybe there isn't one

Come on, tell all. As a avid reader, I'm used to living vicariously. PalmGear has also helped this trait.

Just to keep the thread on topic (BTW did anyone else around here notice this thread was moved to the Customer Service forum! ) PalmGear is useless.

The first thing I installed (on my 64Mb card bought almost 2 months ago when I ordered the memplug from PG) was Launcher III beta. It has memplug support which means it copies programs from the SM card to run them it then deletes them on exit. This is real cool with 200k+ programs with small data files. Future inprovements will have the capability to move all files related to a program back and forth.

I moved a lot of books off. What will be real cool will be TealDoc with MemPlug capability which will be RSN. TealMovie's beta with the same functionality works real well. One I have the TealDoc and my USB reader, I'll be SMOKIN'

All in all, I should have spent the extra bux to order from Widget in the first place. It was here 7 days from the date I ordered.

I got my MemPlug from Widget because of PG's pitiful handling of my original order.

Here's the rub: I want to get one for my son's Visor, so has PG gotten their act together or am I just looking for trouble?

Presumably PG is shipping the "new design"?!?

Woo Hoo! I just got an email from Palm Gear stating that my MemPlug has shipped. I ordered on 5/17. It may even arrive before my USB SmartMedia card reader!

Thumbs down

I just wanted to say that I am really glad people are finally starting to receive their memplugs from PalmScum. However I just wanted to remind everyone that they are still lowlife, lying sacks of S@##, that have no idea about customer service and customer support. I hope Pi finds another distributor since I like their product(s), but refuse to purchase it from such a worthless organization. Sorry for holding back

ooooo - Nice site!

Why such a late shipping date? July?!? That's a whole month away..

I notice a very scary thought Pi. You say about PiDirect. SOLD seperatly. You are telling me by this, that I will not get this with the memplug? I will have to pay EXTRA to get functuality I deserve?

Just wanted to let everyone that was keeping up with this saga know the latest. I ordered my MemPlug(no SM as I already have some onhand) on 05/31/01 and of course received that same backorder e-mail as everyone else the next day. Well, I have received my confirmation that it shipped today. Now, I'm just hoping that it is the new design! I feel very lucky considering the pain I have seen in the recent posts. I will post again when I get it and let everyone know if my luck is too good to be true or not.

By the way, does anyone know if ISilo is going to support MemPlug directly? I'm a big fan of ISilo and am hoping that they can be persuaded if they aren't already thinking about it. Of course PiDirect will help in the end, but the more native support the better I think.
