Battery current and card modules

I bought a SmartDisk Memplug module on Ebay (2-3 years old but new in box), and it seems to work OK. However it only works when I have alkaline batteries in the Visor. If I put rechargable batteries in my Deluxe, it turns the Visor off (and gives a low power message if I keep turning it on). I'm using either 600mAh or 700mAh rechargable AAA batteries.

Have any of you had this problem?

I also have a CF card module that is not a Memplug unit. It does not do this. I thought Smartdisks were supposed to use a lot less current than the other types of card. What gives?

I also just bought a Prism on Ebay, and it has a rechargable Li battery. Hopefully I wont have the same problem with it.

Rechargeable batteries will give you 2.4V compared to 3V for alkalines. I'm not sure if it works the same way with Visors, but with Palm PDAs with the SD slot, if voltage falls below a certain point the slot will be disabled and you will get a low-battery warning.

You shouldn't have the same problem with the Prism because it's designed for the voltage of its rechargeable battery--it won't think it has low power when fully charged.
