Exclamation

I just bought a Handspring modem for my Visor. When I remove it, I cannot turn the Visor back on. I have to do a soft reset in order to get the Visor on again. Has anyone else had this problem? I have emailed Handspring and hoping to hear from them. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

I had exactly the same problem. I also contacted tech support, who weren't very helpful (thay said I should do a backup and hard reset and THEN see if there is still a problem before bothering them).

What I've found out, however, is that my visor will hang if I remove the modem 'soon' after I disconnect. However, if I leave the modem attached for a couple of minutes after I disconnect, it doesn't hang. I think that it must just be still doing 'work' after you disconnect and that removing the module while this is happening causes instabilities. Hardly plug-and-play, if you ask me. =(

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with my modem and 8mb flash module.

After working with HS Tech Support, They finally replaced the unit. My new Visor has been working just fine (knock on wood).

Angry New unit does the same......

I talked to Handspring on the phone today. They said the Visor should NOT need a reset after removing the modem. I took the Visor back to Best Buy (I purchased the extended warranty,) and got a replacement. The new Visor does the exact same thing. I take the modem out and the Visor will not turn on without a soft reset. A hard reset does not fix the problem either. So....I'm calling Handspring again tomorrow and hopefully we can figure out this problem. Thanks to those who replied to my original post!!

try exiting out of the program before you remove the module. my backup module used to lock up my visor if i didn't exit the backup program before removing it. so far, this work-around has been flawless. i just press the "home" icon to exit the programs.

If you make use of HACKs, try disabling them. I have had problems with some HACKs (sorry, don't remember which ones) not liking the Springboard insertion or removal events.
