Hey, how about a springboard that detects radar traps?

Just insert the spring board when you get into your car and cruise without the feer of getting a speeding ticket.

A big atvantage is that it still looks like a PDA and not like a radar detector. This is very usefull in Europe where radar detectors are illegal in some countries....

But keep in mind, drive safely and don't drink and drive...

I could see that being very useful, but it would need to have some advantages over a traditional radar detector.

First, it should have multiple sensors you could place on your car (maybe one in each corner). Then using the multiple sensors it should triangulate the position of the cop(s) and display there location on the map (using the GPS integration). Now that would be one sweet toy.

Cool, Spot the COP!

I should tell (audio) where the Cops are so you won't have to look at the screen and loose your concentration on the road.

It should say something like "11 a clock 300 meters"


Of course this will never be implemented but it is fun fantasising about it...

Maybe not the voice but if it could determine at least the distance if not that and the direction, that would be pretty neat.

So you hear it beep and look at the screen (it's mounted on the dash) and it says North, .7 miles (and it will have an electronic compass). That would be pretty neat.

THe perfect one? Geiger counter.. yeah, pick up those Radioactive emissions

I may have been driving a bit off the deep end (pun intended) talking about the geigers and such. I was joking about a separate springboard and I didn't want to make another whole post about it.

OH yeah, I mean, those new cars are going to have plutonium cores.. right?

The thing that would make the radar detector springboard really cool would be if the springboard also had a GPS and cellular modem so that when you find a speedtrap it shares the info with everyone else at visorcentral (or at least everyone who has the same springboard installed)!

no no i don't want to have to check visor central whilst im driving! Mabey somthing to do with Bluetooth and then havve a searchable database on visorcentral so you can plan trips ohh and i have to share this :b

I was reading about some guy who put a radar detector light in his dashboard next to the turn indicators so nobody would notice - how about a springboard that extends at the top with five lights in a T shape so you know if their in front, back, left, or right, or being chased by highway patrol...

Ok, the ultimate radar detection springboard would need full GPS/mapping software integration and multiple sensors that could be placed on different areas of you car. The multiple sensors could be used to determine the locations of the cop(s) and display them on the map (provided by the GPS and mapping software). Then, using a fuzzy logic AI algorithm, the GPS map would display the best "escape" route. While this would not guarantee that you could out-run the cops, the route displayed would give you the best chance (which is still probably not the good, IMHO). And of course, displaying all this info on the Visor it self would not be ideal, so it should have a wireless external display that could be mounted discretely in the dashboard (important for those states where these things are illegal).
