Just got my GVDx today with the 8meg flash module. On first use of my visor (I have been using a PalmProfessional for over 2 1/2 years now), I noticed the screen of the visor feels much "softer" (not as firm as the PalmProfessional or other Palm V's I had came across before). It certainly feels like my writing on the screen is "denting" the screen. Just wondering if any Palm veterans have had similar thoughts, or is it just my visor unit that seems to have the "softer" screen?
TIA,

Several others (including myself) have noticed this as well. If you use a different stylus than the plastic one that came with the Visor it will be easier.

Thx for the reply. Actually I was already using my PDA Panache Black Nail that I use with my PalmPro when I noticed that. I realize the problem is even worse with the low quality stylus. I am hoping by putting the 3M scotch tape that I had been using for my PalmPro that the problem will be a bit less noticeable.
Btw, James, what stylus are you using?

Mine are like this, as are the last three Palm IIIx's purchased by people at my workplace. Assuming the screens are procured from the same manufacturer, the days of firm screens seem to be over. This doesn't really mean much; according to one of the guys here who actually took his unit apart to see what the scoop is, it seems as though the method used to bond the upper plastic layer to the glass is just different - it's not bonded across the whole are of the screen, just the edges. The scratch resistence isn't affected so it's not a problem, but I can see how it could be perceived as one if you are used to the firmer, older screens.

I have an old palm professional, and it's screen durability is much better. Much harder surface, and it has far fewer, (almost zero), scratches than my new visor, which seems to be quite prone to scratches. Scratches are also more severe on the visor. I'm using the same stylus as I used for the Palm machine, a chrome nail one from PDApanache.
