Question

Hey, I just recently upgraded from a VDX to a VPR. I absolutely love the Prism. I am having one problem with the 8MB Flash Module and the Prism. Every time I try to move a file from the Prism to the Module, I get an error message. It reads, "Unexpected Error The requested operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred (00008114)." Is anybody else out there having this difficulty? I just sent a note to Handspring requesting help with this issue. I hope to hear from them soon. I'll post their response to this question as soon as I hear from them. But, until then, I'm wondering if anyone else may have a solution already. If you know anything, could you please share? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Flash module working fine on my VPr. Have never seen any errors. Are you running at least v1.1 of the File Mover software? You can download v1.1 from http://www.handspring.com/support/softwareup.jhtml

Thanks for responding ... Yes, I am currently running v1.1 of the FileMover Application. The module I bought already had it installed. I just double checked it. Any other thoughts? Thanks again.

I had a similar problem with the first VPr I received, and Handsping replaced it. I'd get the Fatal Error as soon as I inserted either the backup module or the 8mb memory module (which both worked fine on my VDx).

You should call their support number and explain the problem if email is taking too long. My replacement arrived the day after I called them.

Good luck!

Talking

I love my new Prizm. It works pretty well with the MiniJam. With a Visor Deluxe, I was going through AAA batteries at the rate of 2/week. The lithium-ion battery will help the environment!

My backup module is working fine. Also, I can read files from the Module, I can transfer files from the module to the Prism. I only get an error upon attempting to move files from the Prism to the module. I will probably call Handspring on Monday. I did get a response from them via email. Their suggestion was trying a Hard Reset. I tried to do that with out success. The questionable thing about that was I restored it with the Backup module. Duh? I may try another Hard Reset and then manually reinstall EVERYTHING on my Visor. That'll take quite a while! Darn. I'll see what they say on Monday. Oh well, any other tips are appreciated. Thanks for your advice.

Have you been able to use that same Module with your VDX? Have you tried moving different files?

I have tried to move several different types of files without success. I'm also having difficulty with AvantGo. I have reinstalled it. It synced fine the first time. On the second attepmt to sync, it stopped midway through the "Uploading New Pages" step. I think my next step in figuring this out is to Hard Reset the device and manually reinstall each application. We'll see. Thanks for the tip.

Got my Prism 2 days ago. Indoors the screen looks great, but outdoors is a different story. Don't mind though, about 90% of usage is indoors.

Have had only 1 minor issues with the Backup Module and Prism. Sometimes the Prism doesn't turn on automatically when the Backup Module is inserted.

Haven't had any problems moving files between the Prism and my MiniJam.

Lightbulb A possibility?

If you used a backup module from your Dlx is it possible that you installed the Handspring update for the dlx on the prism using the backup module?

That could cause a ton of problems.

Hope that helps.

Well ... I finally figured it out. I had used the Flash Module to move stuff from the VDX to the VPR since I couldn't do a "Restore" from the Back-up module due to OS version differences. I guess something happened to the Flash module during all it's use moving files from the VDX to the VPR. I formatted the module (losing everything) and reinstalled everything and it works great! Thanks for all your suggestions. They were greatly appreciated. (It wasn't a problem with my Prism after all! Thank Goodness!)
