This is an attempt to be a positive voice in the midst of what is, and has largely been, a negative experience. Please do not use this forum to argue against the basis for positivity.

If you are satisfied and even pleased with the way Handspring is trying to rectify the problems that have set back them AND us, use this forum to post your comments saying so. Please don't hesitate to address Handspring directly in your post to encourage them, if you wish.

Obviously, you need not have already received your order to think that they are doing what any responsible, proactive organization should do. (Though I'm betting that the loudest voices will come from those who had received their orders.)

It's just occuring to me that they are in the middle of a thankless situation, and the harder they try to fix the back log, the angrier some become. This is to be expected, for the frustrations are genuine. But I imagine that the HS folks must be pretty burned out by now. I'd hate for their energies to be sapped so early in the game. Furthermore, they may even work harder knowing that their efforts are very appreciated by those impacted by such efforts.

Let's let HS know that they still have a following!

Thank you for your time,
Chris

Good topic!!

I have been extremely happy with my Visor. It's amazing how quickly I've come to depend on it.

Despite my impatient grumbles before I actually received the VDx, I have to admit that it does everything HS promised and more.

So, to Jeff, Donna, and the rest of the hardworking folks at Handspring, THANKS! Ya done good works.

Nice one Raggamuffin,
It's about time someone tried to redress the balance on this board.
I think that the amount of complaints on here are leading people to believe that handspring can't do anything right (personally I recieved my visor without a hitch).

As for the Visor itself I'm really becoming reliant on it. I was looking forward to having a PDA and the Visor has far exceeded my expectations of what I thought I was going to be able to do with it.

I wish all at Handspring the best of luck,
agoldfish

For all of those who didn't believe my posts about what's happening at HS to fix the problems, all I've got to say is, "I told 'ya!"

Cool

I'm very ahppy with my Viro Deluxe. It's a rgreat productr and I'm glad that I purchased it. Customer Service has been great. I read the stories here and they are 180 degrees opposite to my experience with Handspring.

I only called once, when ordering, and got my Visor Deluxe when promissed. When my order was doubled by nistake, which explained the double charge on my CC, they imediately removed the second charge. I'm still holding the second Visor Deluxe, which re-affirms that they are trying to do what's right, awaiting a pick up slip from UPS. Been holding and waitring for over a week. Also recieved a nice letter saying I'm sorry with a Stylis 5 pak.

If anyone wants a Graphite Visor Deluxe at cost and you live in the Mass, RI, CT area let me know. I have the option of keeping it.

Bottom line is I'd do it again!!

Great topic, no sarcasm intended. It gets depressing reading nothing but negative posts all the time.

Now let's all join hands and sing.

What's ironic is that we're all irritable because we're lusting after this amazing new product. If the Visor sucked, no one would be upset.

My Visor isn't here yet, but I'm fairly certain I'm going to love it. The only thing I might regret is choosing the Ice color, but hell, it'll be in a case most of the time, anyway, right? :-)

I ordered the Visor and will wait for it (with just a touch of impatience) because it offers more RAM than the Palms, the Springboard option that the Palms don't have, and the most bang for my buck. I hadn't entered the PDA foray because I simply couldn't afford it. Now I can afford this, and it seems to be top-of-the-line.

I also gave in to my impatience and emailed Ms. Dubinsky and Ms. Torres, and received a personal response from Ms. Dubinsky (or at least someone working with her, but I highly suspect it was actually her) within 2 hours of sending my email. She responded specifically to what I said in the email, and gave me confidence that they're doing everything they can to straighten out this mess and regain customer confidence. I really didn't expect a personal response so quickly.

My visor isn't technically overdue until after November 17, so I'll hold my furious emails until then. But I really feel I'll have it before then. If not, I'll be unhappy, and will definitely follow up on the problem, but will still wait for the product. I think HS definitely made some mistakes, and they are paying for it, but I also think they're fixing it as fast as they can. For now, they have my confidence and my business.

Handspring is really working hard to fix early problems...(I recieved serial cradle and backup module today Fedex...they also corrected an overcharge on my mastercard...)
Cut them the slack a start-up deserves.. Flameing innovative new startups is not good for the consumer...Do you really want to play into Microsoft's hands? If so, ask them for some serious compensation.

I have not received my Visor yet (maybe it'll come in today ), but I thought I'd lend my voice in support of the current efforts being made by HS especially Donna and in my case Susan (if they had more people like her, they would not be in this mess in the first place).

Thanks for taking matters into your hands folks and hang in there ... at least until I get my Visor .

Seriously though, I hope the kinks are straightened out and that the worst is over.

Hey, I may think they've had a lousy start but I still support the company. Best wishes to Handspring because they certainly have a good product out on the market. Keep up the good work and hopefully you'll be out of the hole in a few weeks.

Well, at 5 AM PST time this morning I would not have been posting here in a favorable fashion. However, that has now moderately changed. You see, I had received my Visor and it had died. Replacement unit was like pulling teeth. C.S. could not tell me when or if the replacement had shipped.

It arrived about two hours ago. I'm here posting but I must say that the lack of communication will not help Handspring through these trying times.

The good news is they are trying. The product is good, in fact it's great compared to anything that Palm has put out and I've had just about every unit from them from the Original, a Professional, a III, and a Palm V. The Visor unit has a much better tactil feel for the case, the weight, and the screen.

I'm sticking with them but I will say that I emailed the head of customer service (on Saturday) and managed to call her and leave a voice mail at 9:30AM PST (in Mountain View, CA) and have not yet gotten a response.

Despite all of these problems....it's worth the wait.

OBY: They type of failure that occurred to me is a one of a kind that probably won't be duplicated by anyone. I'd rather not post the exact reason here but "trust" me.

Visor did everything they said for me. I called early October, was told 4-6 weeks, and 4 weeks later, I received the box on my front door with my Visor. This is what I call a perfect transaction! I will also note that they never told me I was ordering a Visor--they said I was reserving it. I think lots of people ordered, were told 4-6 weeks, and didn't quite comprehend that they had to wait!

Good topic Rag,

People who have never suffered through a bad situation like the one Handspring is in have no appreciation for what it's like. I know the communication is bad, but when things get crazy you have to focus on what is important, which is getting people their Visors. It appears that this last week we started to see the results of the hard efforts that the Mindspring folks are certainly putting in. Handspring will get it under control, take what they have learned and evolve their company.

I seems to me that over the last 7-10 days the amount of negative posts have really declined. That tells me that Handspring's efforts are having an effect. People are finally getting their Visors and they love them!

Handspring will certainly recover and anyone who thinks differently has no clue about business. Handspring has the hottest PDA on the market.

Can't complain because I ordered mine on October 29, so I should be expecting it around Thanksgiving, or right afterwards. Although I do have to say that I am a bit anxious to receive one. Just today someone complained to me because I had missed a scheduled appointment, which would undoubtedly never would have happened if I had a PDA, and unfortunately in the last 6 months before it finally died, my PalmPilot Pro was becoming very unreliable. So I'm glad I had the opportunity to try a new unit from a different company (and not a windows CE unit *gag*),...

I haven't received my Visor Deluxe yet, but after reading all about the Palm IIIx and the Vx, I think this is going to be a very successful product for Handspring. I look forward to the products that Handspring and others will offer for the Visor. I think the Spring Board concept is fantastic and that was one of the main reasons I went with the Visor, the diversity of products that could be developed using modular components.

As with any new company there are rough beginings and Handspring could not have anticipated the overwhelming popularity of their product.

Besides when were sitting around the Xmas tree we will all be saying "I'm sure glad I waited for my Visor, instead of buying a Palm".

Until then.....

well time begins........its been WHAT!, 2 years already. I think it's time to reincarnate some of these thoughtful old posts. well i must say that i love my visor 2mb+16mb modual(hagiware) and as soon as christmas rolls around ill be getting only one present....a visor prism and maby some $$$ for a car DC adapter to charge the prism. and dont forget craddel robber so no one will steel my visor prism. i am not going to wait for there next product which will be wireless because i have no need for it, not saying its bad because i would like it as a plus but i wouldnt make that the main point of buying another product. example, if it also had a backlite graffity area which is what im waiting for and higher resulution maby slimmer but no deformation like the sled on the edge.

Wouldn't you rather get a handheld that can be upgraded?
Sorry to rain on your parade, but you might be happier with a Palm OS handheld that has flash ROM...so you won't be stuck with Palm OS 3.5.2 for the rest of eternity...
