Howdy folks,

I finally got my Visor after ordering on 9/17 and I only have one issue: the alarm for my appointments is not loud enough! This makes the Visor basically useless, unless I want to be checking the calendar all the time. A suitable replacement would be a pager alarm. Does anyone out there have experience in replacing piezo devices and could help me take my Visor apart? Thanks!

This is an issue on all Palm type units. According to the book "Palm Pilot: The Ultimate Guide" this has been a complaint for a few years. So, while it doesn't help you, at least it's not Visor Specific.

Yes, it is an issue with all Palms, which is probably why the six-pack springboard is going to have an LED at the top. Assuming you have the visor in your shirtpocket (or other visually accessible area), you will be able to *see* your alarm, partly compensating for the inaudible noise.

That's odd. I've heard the compliants but I've never missed an alarm. I'm one of those who hears my watch alarm, though. (and everyone elses!!!)

I emailed Innogear, the company that is developing the Six-Pack springboard, and asked/requested that they include an optional audible alarm to go with the LED alarm and vibrating alarm. They told me that they were probably going to do this, and they were even thinking of having the capability to do a voice recording for an alarm. Unfortunately, since they are still in the development phase, they couldn't say how the volume would compare to the standard alarm. Let's keep our fingers crossed!!!

The vibrating alarm is one of the reasons that I'm realling looking at the six pack. Everything else that's attached to me vibrates (NexTel, 2nd pager), why not the Visor? Of course if they all go off at once, I could be shaken out of my chair!
Putting the modem and the vibrating alarm in the same package would make it a module that would be installed 99% of the time. The LED alert is pretty much worthless, since it resides in an inside jacket pocket when not in use.

*Setting: Inside a corporate meeting.
*Key member: Staad

Head honcho 1: "Well gentlemen lets get this meeting started. Last week we were talking about..."

*Staad starts shaking uncontrolably and falls out of his chair onto the floor where he continues shaking.

Head honcho 1: "What the..."

Head honcho 2: "Hes having a seizure call a doctor!!"

*Some useless peon goes to call an ambulance

*5 minutes later with Staad still shaking the paramedics show up

Paramedic 1: "Quick get a stick in his mouth and inject him with 100 cc's of anasthetic"

*Paramedic 2 gives the injection

Paramedic 1: "What the...hes not responding"

Paramedic 2: "Lets shock him with the paddle thingies"

Paramedic 1: "OK!"

*Paramedic 2 gets out the paddles

Staad: "NOOOOOOO dont shock me"

Paramedic 1: "Huh? But you're having a seizure"

Staad (Stuttering because of heavy shaking): "n.n.n.nooooo. Its all m-m-m-m-m-yy p-p-p-pagers g-g-ggoing o-o-off at o-o-once."

Paramedic 2 (Searching Staads body, pulling out pagers): "1..2..3....6...12...23 Jez how many are there?"

*He finally pulls the last one off of Staad and shuts it off. Staad stops shuddering

Staad: "Owwww my head. I'm never useing another pager in my life"

*Paramedics laugh at Staads foolish behavior and leave after dropping off their $1000000000000 bill at the door

I think staad's right. the led alarm in the 6-pak is worthless. Now if it was an IR port, that would make the 6-pak just about perfect.

Actually Staad I was thinking more along the lines of South Park. Ever seen the opening credits? They say that kind of stuff And brenn I put about 5 minutes into that. I just got bored

I think it was "Hot Shots" or Wayne's world that did the living or dead resembles this movie than you are a freak and should not be let out of the house.
