Handspring and Customer Relations:
Handsprings treatment of me was initially very good. I ordered on the Web on 10/6 and had to phone in a couple of days later when the web site closed to verify that I still had an order. They were able to bring up the order and verify it. Reciept of the product was slow and at times I questioned whether I would get my visor or not. I e-mailed Donna directly and got a personal, but general response. I finally recieved my visor to my billing address for my credit card (not the address I had specified). For my girlfriend who ordered a Visor also this is a problem because her credit card bills to her permanent address (we are students) and so her visor is 400 miles away!!
The Visor:
I got a Blue Visor Deluxe. I was woried that the blue would be a washed out color, but it is actually quite accutately depicted on the HS website for colors. I am not a real fan of the ice back of the unit, but it is not really as bad as I thought. Many on VC have said that the visor is not well constructed, but my visor is very solid feeling and very ergonomic compared to my Palm Pro. The screen is leap years beyond my Palm Pro and is better than my Dad's Palm IIIx. The snap on cover is awesome! It is a bit cumbersome to put on, but with a little practice it is easy to use and it afford a lot of protection. The slip case is ok, but it is a bit bulky and it does not have a hard area in it to protect the screen. The included software on the ROM is nice. Datebook+ is a great comprimise between Datebook3 and the Palm Datebook. As far as memory is concerned I only have 1.5M filled and I am stuggling ot find stuff to put on my unit. The stylus it ok. It is not any worse than my Palm Pro stylus, but it is not up to par with the Palm III and V styli. That is ok, I prefer to get the 3rd party styli anyway. USB is awesome. Syncing used to take >7 minutes and now it only takes ~1min. The buttons on the visor are much more solid than on and 3com model produced ever with a nick click when you push them.
Overall Statement:
If I didn't have shipping worries this product is far superior to any WinCE device I have tried/had and it is above the marks that a 3com device would show. All in all and excellent product!
