Hey, any little tips and trick you have learned with your visor would be nice to know. I thought a thread directed towards these tidbits might be nice.

LIKE - Cargo pants are the perfect companion. You have room for all your modules. not to mention the pockets are at location that are not structually straining to the contents. (like hip and back pockets when you bend)

The visor plastic clip case. ($20 in the Handspring store) works great if you want to carry modules around. And if your real bored you can actually clip the clip onto car parts (I had mine to stay on my steering wheel and Transmission T-bar (or whatever the hell you call it)

Anyone else got any usefull/less information?

This may seem obvious, but if you have to wear a suit everyday to work (like I do...blah) Then the best place to carry your Visor is the inside breast pocket of the jacket. It fits perfectly, can't fall out, and is not noticeable by others.

Some simple things you may already know (I thought the possible benefit to those who don't know would outweigh the detriment to those who already do):

Use the up and down buttons. They work in just about everything, and when you need quick access it's easier than the stylus for scrolling.

The buttons on the bottom are customizable (meaning you can set them to run your favorite programs)

The buttons when pressed multiple times cycle through different views - calendar cycles calendar views; address book cycles through address categories.

(Another address book tip) If you have lots of addresses, try using more smaller categories - they're easy to cycle through and less to scroll up and down.

Use your finger. It won't work for grafitti, but a lot of times you can just poke on what you want.

Actually, you can speed up address book searches by using your fingernail to draw the first letter or two of the name you're looking for in the Graffiti area. Most of the time you don't even have to scroll.

I never would have thought of getting special pants for my Visor stuff!

What happens if you forget to take something out before laundry? Perhaps a bandolier would be more functional...

You know those double beer can hats with the straws? Combine that hat with any number of car cup holder accesories available at Target. Now your ready to roll!

Ok, silly tips.

- I have an address book category called "Yellow Pages". If I have to look something up in the phone book, I put it in the visor and never look it up again.

- I use templates extensively. I have ones for "oncall", SickDay, VacationDay. A quick list view with "filter by text" under prefs then shows all my timesheet info for a week, etc.

- I use the Daily Journal extensively the same way. Just /J to add entries, then list view filtering on "journal" gives me the input for my weekly status report.

1. Ordering Categories

In order to make my categories show up in the order I want instead of alphbetically, I start the name with a "priority" number (1 to 5). All the ones that I want at the top can are 1s, 5s at the bottom, etc. This way, I don't have to scroll down my categories list unless I need one of my seldom accessed categories.

2. Managing Imported Contacts

I regularly have to scrap company phone lists, and account listings when I change territories. I create seperate categories for these entries so they can be mass deleted later when it's time to import the new data. Just so I'm always clear, I start the names of these categories with "(i)" for import. I have (i) Accounts 99, (i) Sales Reps, etc.
