Visor Edge and Motorola P270

I've got an Edge and a Motorola P270 phone with GPRS access enabled. I bought a cable from thesupplynet.com that connects the two - theoretically - for wireless net access on my PDA. It's not working, though. I can connect to my ISP for about 14 seconds (sometimes - usually I get a 'no carrier' error) before getting booted off. Since I have three products from three separate companies, I can't get tech support. Can anybody help? Thanks in advance!
