I'd like to see a springboard for MS Office, and a springboard for Corel Office Suite apps. It could read/edit the appropriate word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation software source documents directly. With the presentation software, maybe be able to hookup/control a presentation. Possibly even work with MS Access.

It's nice to be able to use Tealdocs, iSilo, Aportisdocs, etc., but it would be even better to edit the source document directly. The springboard could even include RAM or Flash to augment Visor's memory, and give you a place to store the documents without taking valuable Visor Memory. Also, then you could put your document on one piece of hardware and share it with others, maintaining document control.

This would also allow Palm OS to compete directly with WinCE. Only one question: copyright issues?

Great idea, mike1in3

Unfortunately I think MS has a little more interest in the CE OS. I don't think they will bring Office to Palm until the abandon CE. However, I would love to see Office on a Springboard!

Even so, a third party app that can edit from the Office and/or Corel format?

I dunno.

While I'm not sure about the ability to edit MSW docs, I think this is the most exciting thing about springboards in general... The ability to hot-load software on demand that may or may not use the Visor's ram. Think about it... if an app is in its own memory, only the data requires the memory of the Visor. Heck, it would be cool to have and app/memory combo that stores everything on the springboard.

According to a ZDNet article (http://www.zdnet.co.uk/news/1999/41/ns-10697.html), StarOffice will be developed for -- among other things -- "PalmPilots". (Meaning PalmOS devices in general, probably.)
