I have a Backup Module for my Visor which locks up my Visor every time I remove the Springboard from the expansion slot. I get a flickering screen and have to do a 'pin reset' of my Visor to correct the problem.

I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same thing.

Thanks!

Unhappy

Installed Backup Module in Springboard Slot and backed up successfully, then removed successfully.

An hour later was showing Backup Module to friend and it backed up successfully but produced a "fatal error" when removed. A fatal error screen appeared with a "reset" button in the middle. Message said, "DataMgr.c.Line:2431,Null Db ref".

I pressed the "reset" and got a soft reset.

Curious, I used the module again to back up and it caused a fatal error upon removal once again.

Installed the 8mb Flash Module Springboard to show its operation to same friend. It produced same "fatal error" and reset upon removal.

I know, get a different friend....but really, anyone else have the experience or have a clue? I am waiting until all activity stops between the module and the Visor before removing.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Smile

I found the culprit causing the fatal errors.
I removed "Switchhack" and all is well with the Backup Module and the 8mb Module. No more "fatal errors."

I did get the same thing, like it kept trying to re-draw the form (I have the TrekSounds hack that beeps on form re-draw, and it was screaming), but it was only when I was doing a power-off removal of the Backup module.

It happened while I was using Launcher III v1.4. It did not happen when using the default launcher that is built into the OS.

When I upgraded to Launcher III v1.51, the problem went away.

I've found that the start-up hack will also produce fatal errors on insertion/removal of my backup module OCCASIONALLY, as well as every time I use the cradle button to power up the VDx before issuing a sync command. (simple soultion, keeping the hack is to turn the visor on with it's power switch when in the cradle and then hitting the sync button.)

so in this case, the hacks are to fault and not the hardware.

Did you send a message to the program authors to let them know that their wares are causing crashes? The sooner they find out, the soon they can fix the problems, and the less likely the Visor will get a bad name for incompatibilities and "strange crashes."
