Exclamation

Here's one for the Freaks of Visor file:

After hard-resetting my Visor earlier today and HotSyncing it to my computer, I came to a screen I had seen in ads and on sites that hadn't been updated in a very long time, but had never had the 'pleasure' of seeing on an actual device.

The old Palm OS 1.0 launcher. Y'know, 12 icons on the screen, with a little status bar containing a clock and a battery gauge.

Now as cool and ghetto as this prehistoric launcher is, I'd really rather use Applications (the normal launcher). Problem is, the Home button is associated with the ghetto launcher. (There is an icon for Applications in the ghetto launcher however.) Any ideas?

Were you using a third-party launcher?

This happened to me awhile back. I'm using Silverscreen however, and if memory serves me correct, I ended up launching Silverscreen and when i clicked the 'Exit Silverscreen' icon it finally brought me back into the launcher that we all know of (originally on the visor). There is an app called Launcher on your visor that might be causing the problem.

Let me think about this one a bit....i KNOW there is a way out of this....it just happened so long ago! (last february?)

FYI: The application launcher in Palm OS 1.0 and 2.0 was a dialog box available from a system API call. Starting with Palm OS 3.0 the application launcher was changed to a separate application. However for software compatibility reasons the API call still remains, and thus the old dialog box launcher. Occasionally one will bump into an old piece of software that makes that call.

I get the same launcher if I remove my 8MB Springboard. Reminds me of my old Pilot 1000, but with far more than 128K of RAM!
