Got my visor dlx after ordering it on 10/7.

Noticed the LCD screen on my unit is crooked and off-center (groan). It's off by 1mm edge-to-edge, small but noticible. My old palm pro's screen is perfectly aligned. The off-centering is the result of their industrial design, but the crookedness is probably loose manufacturing tolerances. I guess I'll just have to get used to it anyway because everything else about this unit is great.

Here's a post by someone, who's attitude I don't necessarily approve of, who describes how he fixed his crooked screen. http://www.visorcentral.com/visor/d...TML/000676.html

Yeah, I've already opened up the case and jiggled the LCD around. Still off by a bit. The LCD is well-seated where it's supposed to be, but it's not being held very tightly by the plastic assembly so there's some wiggle room. Everytime I tried to push it off to one direction it will just slide back to where it was. I guess I'm being picky but this just gnaws at me.

Y0tsuya-

I have the same problem with my Palm Vx. Like your Visor, the screen on my Vx is skewed just a bit off center. It used to really bother me, but now that I'm through with my honeymoon period and using for business, I don't notice it anymore. It just comes down to what Palm and Handspring consider acceptable manufacturing tolerances. Trust me, you are not alone.

Thumbs up

If I was you I would call tech support and explain the issue. I called today for a MUCH nit-pickier reason, and my replacement is on the way! The tech support rep I spoke to was EXTREMELY kind and sympathetic. I told him I was being extremely picky and that the repair center would probably wonder why this one came to them, but his response was that they wanted me to be PERFECTLY happy not just pretty-much happy.

BTW, my issue was a screen with relatively poor contrast. My Palm IIIx screen was much more readable than this new Visor one. (The pixelated area of the screen is black-ish all over. Thus the poor contrast. I would describe it as "leakage" in the pixels that were not supposed to be activated.) I thought that it might just be the way things were until a buddy of mine got his in. His contrast was MUCH better, including when backlit. (No "leakage." In fact, the pixelated area was totally invisible at the edges; a solid greenish-grey all the way to the plastic frame.)

Chalk me up as one that has had nothing but good experiences from ordering and customer service.

Hmmm...Now that you mentioned it. The backlighting has been bothering me. I don't have other visors to compare against, only my palm pro. Using the inverthack, the backlit screen looks like a carpet with unevenly-lit pixels.

B&W contrast, on the other hand, is excellent. Much better than the palm pro.
