Question Usage of the built-in Microphone

I just received my new Visor Deluxe.
It looks great although thicker than my old Palm III.

When you look at it closely, a built in microphone can be seen in the lower-left corner.

Are there applications that can make usage of this microphone?

Thanks,

Leon Wubbe

Unfortunately, no. The microphone is tied directly into the springboard slot, so the only way to use it is via a springboard. The VisorPhone is the only, currently available, springboard that I can think of that uses it. (Unless one of the voice recorder ones do, but I think they have their own microphone.) Someone please correct me if another springboard is currently available to use it.

Both the Total Recall and MyVox use it (I'm pretty sure), and the Targus also has a built-in mic so you can use it separately w/ a "shuttle"

I've wondered before if there could be a simple sprinboard adapter + software solution that would simply lead the wires from the SB back to the RAM, but I seem to recall the cost involved would be prohibitive.

A more intriguing question: Did they change this wiring layout on the Edge?

doubt it. you need special circuitry to turn a microphone signal into data.

The VisorPhone also uses that microphone.
