Question

I've seen many nice coments on the Rohdiana case for the VDX but I haven't seen much comments on the new Prism case. Is it the best case you cold have for the Prism? I'm about to buy it even though the website says it only takes orders by phone, which does not look very professional nowadays. Also the way they list their products is not as provocative as other websites. Can anybody tell me if I will be making a good choice in buying this case for my Prism?

Thanks

Al

cases

I had one with my PalmVx and Omnisky....loved it. Now I have a Prism and and OmniSky. I will be buying another Rhodiana case when they make one for my current set up. Nice case, shipped fast. I was not too concerned with there lake of HTML skills. :-)

The lack of a web page put me off at first too. But I love my Rhodiana case. Cases, actually, I have one for both my Visor Delux and my Prism.

The workmanship is excellent, they stand behind their product. I like the padded protection, and the way the elastic straps make the unit adhere to my hand.

You will bless this case the very first time you accidentally drop your Prism.

The only drawback I see is the lack of accomodation for oversized springboards, but most cases have that problem.

Exclamation swivel clip will be discontinued

I just got the case for the Prism. It is very nice and I like the swivel clip.

On my bill, however, I was not charged for the swivel clip option since it stated that this feature will be discontined. I don't know if they're just getting rid of it, or changing the design.

So if you want a swivel clip case, hurry and order before they stop taking orders for it!

I just posted a new topic before I read this post... Silly me. It is true that the swivel is discontinued now. They likley didn't charge you for it because that way they don't have to replace the tab for you when it snaps off. Apparently this is happening alot. For those of you that have the swivel clip, take care that the tab does not come under any pressure.

Cheers,

Arker.

I tried to order one today with the swivel clip, and they confirmed they aren't offering it any more. On that basis, I decided not to buy it. Hopefully Vaja will come out with a Prism case with the clip.

My wife have bought me a Prism Rhodiana case. However, I cannot see it until Christmas because it is supposed to be a secret gift even though I already know what it is.

The point is that I'm worry about the swivel clip since Arker says that a lot of people have broken their clip. Anybody else has experienced the same problem? How much life should I expect from my clip? Will I be able to buy a new clip that fits the case if the swivel clip brakes? Overall, is it the best case out there?

Thanks

Al

That depends on you.

On the one hand, I have Rhodianas for both my Visor Deluxe and my Prism, and I really don't care to use anything else. They give great protection, the workmanship is superb, and I like the elastic straps.

On the other hand, I didn't even order the belt clips, as I don't like them. I use a Landware BurroPak.

Talking I finally got my Rhodiana case

I really love the Rhodiana belt clip case for the Prism. It's big enough to fit the Prism with no extra bulk. Everything it's great but the only problem is that I'm worry about the button click. Many people are saying that it will break sooner or later and I don't want to lose my Prism while it's on my belt. Can anybody give me some hints to prevent the case from breaking or maybe if there is a way I could reinforce the button in the case.

Also, I don't know what is that breakes? the plastic in the middle or at the ends. Can anybody tell me what goes wrong with the belt clip.

Thanks

Al

PS: I've been trying to include a picture in here but I can't any body?

This belt clip system is the same used on many cell phones including Nokia 6162, etc. I have worn several out with my cell phone... probably expect 6 months to 1 year of life depending on use. You can get a replacement button (and belt clip) at any cell phone store, although you may have to drill out the rivit that holds it to the cell phone specific hardware and then re-attach to the plastic piece on the case.

The thing that wears out is the small button on the case itself. Over time the button begins to wear where it hangs and swivels (and therefore rubs and wears) on the belt clip.

I am getting on of these cases with the belt clip system and plan on changing the button whenever it shows substantial wear. I may even try and have a replacement machined out of steel or aluminum with a hole in the middle where it can be attached, with apropriate hardware, back to the original plastic piece that is sewn to the case.

Red face Aww..man...my clip button's broken too!!

Thanks a lot acajigas and nitehawk!! I was reading your post and thought "Hey, I better check my clip-button too" Well darn-it! I found that mine button was also crack!! Man, why did I have to read your post...

Anyway, on a serious note, I would recommend everyone with the Rhodiana belt-clip to check the button. Thanks for the warning.

I loved my Rhodiana case, but since they have discon't the belt clip, I think I'm going to buy the HS Vaja case. From what I've read this case is pretty good and very stylish, and the button on this belt-clip case is metal!

Thumbs down Buy the Vaja case instead

I had the Rhodiana case for the Vx and liked it so I thought I would like the Prism case. I sent it back because the belt clip sucks, unlike the Vaja case it is not very smooth to release and since they also said they are discontinuing it I didn't want to be stuck with that. I also don't like the little clasp they use. Basically the Vaja case is such high quality and so well thought out that it makes everything else look cheap.

Lightbulb

Guys...! the Rhodiana case is a GREAT case, However, the only weak point is the button of the case. If they change it for a metalic one, the case would be the best one ever.

The Vaja case is definatley a sweet looking high quality case. The only thing that has kept me from buying one is that piece of plastic covering the buttons. I know it's probably no big deal to you Vaja ownwers but I hate that.

I'm trying to figure out a place to find a stronger (maybe metal) tab that I can sew into my Rhodiana. If I could just get around that weak tab problem that would still be the case for me.

Cheers,

Arker
