Last night as I was cutting my Writerights into strips to cover my graffiti area, I was thinking that there has to be some kind of graffiti strip out there. Does anybody know? I have just started using them only for my graffiti area and I would have a hard time believing that a company hasn't already thought of this.

If anyone knows if these exist and if so, where they can be purchased, I would appreciate any info.

Well, this has been discussed just a few times in the last year Your cheapest solution is Scotch's Satin tape. You could try searching the archives for more info.

You might try vinyl...

There is something that just covers the graffitti area - something Shield I think (not NuShield). As I recall, it's orange in color and just covers the bottom part.

Scotch satin tape has been used by lots of people too.

Something else that's been mentioned before and I just tried yesterday (after 6 months of WriteRights) is vinyl. I got a 5' x 3' piece of 4 gauge vinyl at a fabric store yesterday for a buck and a half (literally) just to try it. I assume if you're putting WriteRights on the graffitti area, you want screen protection but don't want to sacrifice clarity.

The vinyl is pretty impressive. It's tricky to cut straight and even trickier to apply satisfactorily, but it's super cheap, perfectly clear, and for the price, you can try it 3 or 4 times till you get it right.

Now I've just got to figure out what to do with the rest of my WriteRights...

I read about the vinyl idea...

I have read quite a few posts about the vinyl idea. You're right. I want the protection, but I hate the way the WriteRights "blur" the screen. Perhaps I should give it a try; I really like how the WriteRights work on the graffiti area, though. Plus, considering how long it takes me to cut strips, I would probably spend HOURS trying get the perfect cut and placement. I am one of those freakish perfectionist-types.:

Just out of curiosity, but what type of WriteRights are you using?

I am using the ones that are supposted to be used on the IIIc and I have not noticed any blurring of the screen. The ones for the non-color PDA do have that texturing to them which I agree does blur the screen. The ones for color screens (both Palm and WinCE) are completely clear and do not blur the screen, at least as far as I can tell.

I am using the ones for Palm III/Visor. So you are saying that they are not textured at all, and are more like a clear vinyl? Do you like the way they feel when you write on them? Have you noticed better or same graffiti recognition? I think the recognition is a lot better (for me, anyway) with the ones I am using now - if the same goes for the WriteRights for the IIIc, I will definitely give them a try!

There is no texture on them, basically clear vinyl. I do like it when writing on them, the little bit of extra friction helps me with my graffiti. Also, I think that it did help with the recognition. I imagine it is similar to those that use other protectors, but I feel with a protector on there is better recognition than with a bare graffiti area.

You might want to look at the ones for the WinCE computers since I have heard they may be a bit bigger that the IIIc onces. This maybe issue since the Visor screens are a bit bigger than the IIIc screens. On my VDx I have a small gap on the right and top where the protector does not cover, this with it being flush on the left and bottom sides. Even with the gap I have yet to even have to tap in that area since the screen does not display anything in the gap area.

Thanks so much for all the information and help. I will definitely give these a try. If I can find something I like that covers the whole screen, I am probably a lot better off. I hate the idea of having to cut vinyl screen protectors out myself and if there is already something on the market, I would rather take that route. IMO, spending 20 bucks for something premade is far off better than spending a couple hours with something that I could probably never get quite right anyway.

Just so you guys know, you don't have to get ones just for the IIIc. You can use WR's for the Windows CE devices. I use them on my Deluxe. I always liked the clarity. These seem to work great for me and only have a small gap in the sides in the place where you never write. You cannot even fit the stylus in between that is how small the gap is. There is also a small gap at the very bottom and also is out of the way.

I actually used these and have never seen WR�s for the palm. I thought they all looked good. A friend got a Visor and bought Palm WR�s and WOW!!!!!!!!! I could not believe how cloudy the display was. There is a HUGE difference between regular ones and ones for the Windows CE devices. I would never use those cloudy ones on my PDA.

If you already have the Writerights with the texture and want a little clearer look try this. Use car wax on it or Pledge. It writes a lot better and removes some of the foggyness and it's FREE.

Just gotta say that I LOVE the TapPad!! This is the way the Palm OS should work. Cut and Paste is now very easy to use. Non destructive backspace is very nice and not to mention the clipboard history and text clippings features. Lots more, too.

Not selling anything, I was just amazed. Is that so wrong?

Graffity Cover

I am using SilkyBoard keypad to protect the Graffity area and NuShield to cover the whole surface. They work very good for my VDX and VPL.
