Hardwarestreet.com has WriteRights for $19.99. However, shipping (UPS Ground) is $4.95. That price is good for up to a pound, then it's .75 for each additional pound. BizEchilD is rounding up a group of people who want to buy stylii, (I'm in), so that we can all split the single shipping charge, rather than all having to pay separate shipping charges. I figured I could start a similar group for purchasing WriteRights. They don't weigh anything, so we could get a ton before we reached the one pound limit. Let me know if you're interested.

Question

Some of us like to save money if we can, even if it is only a few dollars. $4.95 is 25% of the cost of the WriteRights. If I buy them for $19.95 and pay all of the shipping costs myself, I haven't saved any money. I can just run down to Best Buy and get them for $25.00. However, if I can save a couple bucks, why not try?

Try InYourPalm.com. They got a sale for the WriteRights at $13.99. I found this through mysimon.com.

Also, try outpost.com. They got the whole PDA Survival Kit for just $26.95. Shipping is free. (The WriteRights are $19.99)

Now, why don't you just do this:

go to dealcatcher.com, and find the coupon for $20 off from buy.com.

Order the CW PDA Survival kit for 34.95, now your cost is 14.95. Pay for shipping, you've got a better deal.

To add to my deal, they didn't ship out right way (I ordered second day air), and they credited back my shipping charges. So, I got the entire kit for $15.

Can't beat that..

Thomas

Check this out! Just went to InYourPalm.com and at the very bottom of the page they have a listing for a Holiday Special on WrightRights for Windows CE devices for only $9.99!!! I've read in other threads that they fit with a little trimming. Now, THAT is a deal!

Angry

<polite mode>

WriteRights are absolutely the most overpriced item that I can think of. I'm amazed that somebody hasn't come out with an alternative, priced much more reasonably, like 20 sheets for $5.

I like the idea of WriteRights, but refuse to be extorted. In almost 2 years, my ex-Palm III only got 1 small scratch on the screen, so I think I'll take my chances.

I have to agree with you, Axeman. They are overpriced big time. But considering that I can already see wear and tear on the graffiti section of the screen (probably due mainly to the cheap stylus shipped with the Visor), I'm glad I have a WriteRight on there. Now, maybe once I get my new 5 pack of styli, I'll take the WriteRight off. I don't really like the way it makes the screen look. But yes - it's kinda like Microsoft Office: It's the industry standard, so they can charge a ridiculously high price, and people will pay it. By the way, has anyone tried StarOffice from Sun? It's free, and it seems to be pretty good.

RobinTX,

I read several threads about WriteWrites and got the impression that the CE versions fit Visor perfectly, so I ordered the $9.99 deal. I'll let you know. Of course, I expect to get my WriteWrites before my Visor.

The CE WriteRights are a little short on the width. Not bad. But, there is a gap.

Thumbs up

ChrisB: If you're already seeing wear, then I can't blame you. For me, it hasn't been a problem. (That's why I mentioned my history with my Palm III.)

I still maintain that a company that is set up for manufacturing stuff out of this sort of plastic could probably knock these out for next to nothing. Too bad the market is so small that it hasn't attracted anyone's attention. I'll admit that an innovator is entitled to profit from his innovation, but this is ridiculous.
