I have a multi-Palm household (spouse and I so far) and need to add one more for a daughter. All sync with the same desktop PC. Visor is appealing at this point due to availability as well as neat colors. But there are questions I can't find answers to so far:

1. If I get hold of a Visor USB cable (not cradle), is there a chance I can use that same cable to sync the Visor and the two Palm III's through the USB port or will I have to keep a serial cable attached to sync the Palm's?

2. If I load the Palm Desktop that comes with the Visor, will there be any problem setting up and syncing all three users to the same Desktop or will I have to figure out how to have two separate Desktop versions on the same PC?

3. What problems will there be in interaction with Hotsync Manager if I have to have two sync cables (serial and USB) or maintain separate Desktop versions?

4. Is this just a terrible idea that's doomed to failure for some reason?

Thanks.

1) USB Cable - This is Visor-specific. It will not work with the Palm's as they have different docking connectors.

2) You can sync multiple Visors to the same PC by using different User Names. However, to keep the data seperate on the desktop, you will need to enable multiple users on the PC, each with their own unique login.

3) HotSync lives peacefully with both USB and serial connections enabled at the same time. As for mixing Palm's and Visor's, I think you need to use the desktop software designed for the specific unit. (the Visor software is enhanced to support the USB sync, etc).

4) It can and has been done. There were some posts here awhile back, but I don't have time to search for them at the moment. If I get a chance later, I'll post some links for you.

Read through the VisorCentral FAQ's... I think some of this is discussed in there.

The Palm Desktop software that came with the Visor will work with Palm and Visor's.

My daughter and I both have Visor's and my wife has a Palm IIIx.

We have been able to sync using different profiles into a combination of Palm Desktops / Outlook and Outlook Express.

The prior post is also correct that USB and serial cradles can co-exist without any problems.
