Question

Hi there.
I just got my replacement Visor today and when I compared it to my 'old' unit, I noticed some changes. Maybe I am just mistaken, but some things seem different:
- the sounds are 'fuller' (new speaker?)
- the unit seems to have a slightly higher quality (especially the power switch)
- PalmOS logo on the battery cover (my 'old' one did not have a logo there)
- stylus seems to have a tip made of a different plastic (slightly darker and smoother?)

Has anybody received a replacement unit recently and noticed any changes?
The OS release still seems to be the same, though (at least according to PalmInfo).

I do not want to spread any rumors around, but I really would like to know if I am just fantasizing or not...

I agree. I just received mine Monday. I haven't had to hit the power switch twice yet to turn it on. Battery door seems a BIT better fitting than before.

Noticed one more thing. Better click or bite into the docking tab in back. Slightly deeper hole??

I just got my replacement unit today. I put the two units side by side. The replacement seems to have clearer screen. But the screen does not feel as smooth as the original unit. I play w/ the contrast control on both and could not adjust the display of my original unit to be as clear as the replacement. Second, the speaker volume is definitely louder on the replacement. The differences could be because of poor quality control not because of any improvement they made, I don't know.
One thing I notice though, the serial number of my replacement unit is lower than my original unit(original was ABEEB509.... but the replacement is ABEEB449...). What I got in the box was just the visor w/the hard plastic cover, stylus, and 2 brand new batteries. I suspect it is a reconditioned unit as mentioned in other posting. Another thing, the battery cover of my original unit has palm logo on it, the replacement doesn't.
So far the unit is working fine.
By the way the problem that I had w/my original unit is the case crack below the memo botton.

I just recieved my replacement unit today and I do not see any differences with the new unit and the old. It looks to me to be in "new" condition, with no visible scratches or wear. Some peaple say their new unit is louder; could the volume setting be set in the "high" mode? The screen looks the same, the stylus looks the same. The serial number on my replacemernt is lower than my original unit, though. I think some people just want to find somthing different with the replacement unit, but it seems to me to be working the same as my old unit.

I compared them again this morning. I place the two units side by side. Speaker volume of the replacement unit is definitely louder at the same setting. But I don't think there is any undate or improvement on the unit, it probably is just a minor quality control issue.

Red face

Called for a replacement unit last week (cracked case), recieved two units today. I don't know why I got two. Comparing my old one with the two new ones I see that new screens are more golden in color and my old one is greener. My old one I think is actually clearer. Has anyone else seen a difference in the color of the screens?

I ordered a replacement due to a cracked case, and less than 24 hours later, I had a brand new one in my hand.

In comparing the new BVD and my old BVD, the screens appear different. The new BVD has a much more greenish tint to it and appears to be easier to read. This appears to be an upgraded screen from the one on my old BVD. I received my old BVD around Dec 1st. Also, this new BVD has the Palm logo on the battery door and it feels a little more solid than my previous one. I definitely think Handspring has been tweaking a few things. Unfortunately, it sounds like some of you went the wrong direction and got down-graded with your replacement.
