Now that Handspring has licensed CDMA from Qualcomm, it seems like they are planning on something big. I wish they would release a new model with color screen, built-in wireless access and slim design by Christmas. Ya, keep on dreaming..

From James:
"This is a great development; if Handspring
makes a wireless Visor, users can be online with their Visor and still use the Springboard slot."

I AGREE!

Thumbs up

As I said before, I would really be surprise if Handspring does not come out with a new line by Christmas. They are going to need something to counteract Palm's new releases.

I think the first thing we'll see is the standard Visor drop in price slightly and come in all colors.

I too would be surprised if there are no new models. What else could I ask for on Christmas?

I agree. I think Handspring has a release right around the corner, but I have a feeling that we won't know what it is or when, until maybe a week before the announcement (if security becomes lapse at handspring for some reason)

I hope they make their announcement soon though! I want to see what new cool stuff they're comming out with!!!

Sorry but I think you are all WAY too optimistic on timing here.

My guess would be that Handspring would need to announce any new product within the next 4 to 6 weeks in order to meet the demands of the holiday season. If we don't know anything by October 1st, I'd say we won't see something before the end of the year.

I still don't think we'll see Visors with built in wireless capabilities. I think there will be a HS wireless springboard, but I can't imagine they could include this ability within the Visor without charging an arm and a leg. And if you want color along with that just imagine what the price would be.

Color alone seems realistic, but not built in wireless.

One thing that we should be looking forward to is at least a refreshed Visor with Palm OS v3.3 or v3.5. I've heard encouraging words regarding this from a vendor that I've been working with. Haven't heard if the OS is still going to be in ROM . . .

I find I have to agree. Not only is the designing of the hardware going to be a protracted process, but Handspring also has to contract for some kind of wireless internet service.
