My new Prism worked great for 7 days in a row. Then poof! #8009 hotsync error. I have been reading about it on the usenet groups but now it's happened to me.

1. Tried soft reset. no change
2. Tried to install usbutility...but can't hotsync, therefore can't install.
3. Tried uplugging all usb units (just prism and Vdx really)
4. Tried pc reboot
5. Tried soft reset again

Anyone have any more ideas.
Thank you,
g

ALL FIXED!
yeahhhh!

Info just for anyone else who finds themselves in the same predicament...
Please first see my last post to follow steps suggested by the Handspring site. They didn't work for me but they might for you.

Then, I used the visorcentral search function to look for others with my problem and came upon a thread for installing the 4.0 desktop which showed how to reinstall 'palm desktop' cd with only 'hotsync' selected as a solution to usb conflict. Thanks to my backup mod on prism, and 'goback' on pc-I am SUPER experimentor-I can do anything, because I can UNDO anything. Now if only I can buy the LIFE version.....

tada, it worked like a charm.

now, I'm off to find out why people install 4.0 desktop instead of using Outlook....
1-maybe they don't have outlook
2-maybe they like desktop better than outlook for visor
3-is this just anti-Bill?
I never really took notice except to support Netscape until the very end(ie 5.5) for competetive reasons and print preview...but now with Bill forcing upgrades to Office 97 &2000 by Oct 1, 2001-- my gander is WAY up...I'm even looking at 'StarOffice(free)'
