Unhappy

Just got my Stowaway last night for my Vdx. I've got v1.5 of the driver. Here's the deal:

Sometimes, when I hit the shortcut key to go to datebook, or to address, or whatever, I get a long a$$ string of repeating "4". Seems to happen regardless of app...

wazzup?

Well, looks like it's Afterburner III, unregistered version. That really bites, as my VDx needs afterburner to keep me happy....

anybody else had problems with afterburner and the stowaway?

Ok, having looked here:

http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...burner+stowaway

I downloaded the newest afterburner, 3.0u (I had 3.0t). The only difference is it repeats not just 4s, but also "y"s.

It look as though if I register afterburner, I will gain the option to toggle fast hotsyncs... According to the above thread, this makes a difference...

So, I want to register afterburner, but only if it will work with the stowaway! Anybody else had this issue and resolved it?

Help!

I thoughtit made a difference--i have since turned my afterburner (registered) off because I could neither sync nor use stowaway---i, too, was getting all 4's.

So ODD, I haven't had any problems syncing via a serial cradle...

I'm thinking that I'm just going to have to give up on afterburner... DANG!

At least until the next version--maybe the developer will hear our pleas for help--I was fine until I downloaded the u version.

Thing is, though, I think that there are others who have gotten it to work... Seems like there's gotta be something that we could do to make them compatible...

Anybody else??

I read a comment in another thread about beaming and Afterburner that it may depend on the quality of the components in your particular VDX...maybe you're not supposed to buy PDA's (or cars) made on Monday or Friday....

Well, K. I got it to work, but you're not going to like it:

I read in the afterburner documentation that only the registered version supports the keyboard, so I registered it, and the problem went away. I used the default setting as they're listed in the manual. Try as I might now that I'm using the registered version, I can't repeat the errors I've been having before. Maybe try and dl the latest registered version again?

Cool Just got mine too

And I haven't had any problems like that! My only problem was that I got too carried away with hitting those shortcut keys and I crashed.

Which shortcut keys are you referring to? Could be that you are in fact having a similiar problem....

Now I'm finding that in WS, if I use Shift and Ctrl to highlight, and I'm moving wicked fast, the thing freezes up and I'm looking at a soft reset to fix it.

Maybe I should just drop v1.5. What were the reasons they upgraded it?

I received an email from the developer with the latest update to Afterburner, which (of course) I have deleted. I am going to try removing AB and AB database from my palm (carefully turning it off first in hackmaster) and just reinstalling the one on my computer.

I'll report back on my results...if this fails, I'll probably try to email the developer and see what he's heard about stowaway and afterburner 3u issues.
