Thumbs up

Visor Prism and Platinum are featured in Business Depot's most recent flyer (Nov 15- Nov 26.) It is confirmed available at my local store. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

what are the prices listed in the flyer? are they on sale, by chance (seeing as they're in a flyer). i just called future shop (toronto) and the platinum is 449 and the prism is 679.

anyone know of any cheaper outlet?

thanks,

mc.

Take the Business Depot flyer which lists the Prism for $659 over to Future Shock.

Future Shop has a 110% price gaurantee and they'll discount the unit by $22.

Cheers

Talking

It appears to be at ComputerCity too (679). Stick with BizDepot..Ultimately if you're patient you save yourself some pocket change by ordering direct through Handspring. They don't charge PST unless you're in BC, and they're still offering free shipping right now. They also give you longer return policy than the stores.

I imagine the dollar will jump a bit with the announcement of the winner of the federal election, plus the holidays should make good too.

I don't know if they've burned the new OS update on the ones they're shipping now. Maybe Yardie will let us know.

For the record I bought mine this morning. Graffiti seems fine with my factory ROM sans update. We'll see.

Addendum:
Knowing that Wal*Mart will be carrying HS products in the States, I imagine that
they may be available here. No one sells lower than Wal*Mart.

what makes you say this? i've paid duty on just about everything that has come across the border (books, videos, cameras, computer gear, etc. etc.) the only way i've ever seen around this is to send it by usmail instead of by some priority service.

i was under the impression that you pay duty on EVERYTHING that you get shipped across the border except items that are not already available in canada.

why would visor's be exempt?

Talking perhaps duty relief

As a Canadian 'company' (or having a Canadian presence) Customs Canada may 'give you a break' on duty towards certain imports under (for lack of better words) certain conditions. I think this is called 'duty relief.' This is just speculation.

Wink No Duties

I ordered from Handspring.com a few times and have it shipped directly to me in canada...and I pay no duties... I only pay 7% GST. Right now they have a free shipping offer so I paid no shipping for my Prism either.

No duty to canada

Just to add my $.02 on the duty/no duty question...

When I ordered my VPR last month (since returned to Handspring) I did not pay any duty. Shipping was free. GST and BC PST was charged.

I also wonder why no duty is charged on Visors, since I have paid duty on other products shipped from the US.

There is no duty on computers imported into Canada from anywhere in the world, regardless of where they were made. That includes handheld computers (Visors etc.).

What people usually get hit with is PST / GST or HST depending on the province.

They may get hit with Brokerage, which is the shippers charge for the paperwork.

I think HS recently improved their shipping into Canada, so brokerage does not get charged.

I just went to the Future shop on the Squamish Bands Indian reserve and the Prism there as I am PST and GST exempt. I saved $92.26
