I got my yy modem today. I can not seem to get it to show a web page. I get it to connect, but no pages.

Does anyone know if I can use pqa files on the YY service or only on the Palm.net service?

Thanks

According to YadaYada, PQAs will work given that you have PalmOS 3.3 (I think) or above. Since the VDX only has 3.1x, you cannot run PQAs on a VDX. Prisms and Platinums should not have any problems.

In other words, it's not dependant on the service you use, but rather on your version of the PalmOS.

This is all hearsay, as I have a VDX and haven't tried PQAs on anything.

I've heard and seen that almost all PQA functionality is available via the web, so I'm not too upset.

It does work.. I have done it!

I have a friend with a Palm VII, I did some fiddling around and got them to work on my Prism with YadaYada, however you need to change the IP address the PQA's use or they will fail to connect. PQA's normally run only on the Palm.net network. Also, a few (location aware) pqa's wont work as they rely on cell tower information (to get your physical location), this location information only seems to be available on the Palm.net network.

There is another thread on this site with a URL to a web site that has the specifics on how to do this.

Also, in the process, I had to do many warm resets and a few hard reset. (thankfully I have a backup module!) It's all set , happy and working now.

I agree, many PQA's have identical web site alternatives..

I found JPSPQA at JPsystems.com and it works great to give my Prism/Minstrel S on YY the same functionality as the PalmVii.

I could not get the PQA's to even show up on the desktop when using the YY launcher. When I went back to the Palm desktop, the pqa's showed up but would not work by themselves.

To make PQA's work stand alone, like a real Palm VII, you need at least OS 3.3(i.e. Prism or a Platinum only) and to ah-hem, "borrow", some files from a Palm VII, then a soft reset, also before all of this, disable the YADA YADA launcher as I got really bad crashes when this was the default launcher when I was trying to install the "borrowed" files (fyi - the launcher works fine now).. Once that step is done, you also need to modify the default server settings used by the web clipping application you "borrowed" from the palm VII , otherwise the PQA's will hang.. This sounds more complicated then it really is.
