At the risk of walking right into a mine field. What's funny about this? Methinks it has to do with the second sentence. The executive branch does in fact interpret the law. For instance the EPA has to create specific regulations to comply with the law as passed by Congress. For instance, Congress may say "We want clean air, with noticeable reductions in ____." The EPA comes us with regulations to ensure that goal is met.

What may sound funny is that typically people see the judicial branch as interpretting the law, and indeed they do. But the executive branch does it all the time. It just has to try to make sure its interpretation coincides with what the judges are going to say.

Well we now know that Pres. Roosevelt was never photo'd (and published) using his crutches. I think that this was a thing more common in the past than now.

Although I do know that 20 years ago ( in 1984) the Capital Building in DC was bombed by a (domestic) terrorist group and no-one reported it at all. People were told that the buildings marble facade was being repaired because of "abnormal" cracks etc. That was when all the jersey (concrete) barriers started showing up.

This is the only reference that I can find to that bombing (which I know went awry because the cart the bomb wa on was removed from the room in which several hundred people were in, to a cloakroom) 1983 U.S. Senate Bombing

"On November 7, 1983, another bomb exploded in a public corridor near the Senate Republican Cloak Room, detonated at around 2300 EST with a time- delay device. The explosion damaged a wood-paneled conference room near the Senate Chamber and the offices of Senator Robert Byrd. No one was injured. A group calling itself the Armed Resistance Unit claimed responsibility, saying it was done in response to U.S. military action in Grenada. Neither do I.

We were told the media blackout was to prevent the group from getting free publicity. The FBI evidently had a very solid lead on who they were and wanted to nab them before they could speak their full piece. We were on standing react for months afterwards.

I called my mom afterwards and she hadn't seen a thing in the news. What's interesting to me is that there isn't much info out there on the bombing, and what there is minimizes the actual damamge.

It's similar because it's a reiteration due to the fact that the point didn't seem to go through. Whether other countries or administrations have hushed up similarly embarrassing photos of other leaders is of no relation to what I'm saying.

There's really no need to assume that just because someone quotes something means they are replying to the statement made. It's a "talking point," a "that reminds me of something." Please do not feel as if someone needs to repeat what you said (or even mention it) in order to know you got your point across.

That is the only logical reason to quote what someone says. Otherwise, just hitting the generic reply button makes far more sense. It's only common courtesy.

I don't care if anyone reiterates what I said to confirm whether they got the point. Going off on a tangent without acknowledging it as such certainly does make it appear that it wasn't understood. There are reasons for protocols, after all.

That's the point of not hitting quote unless you mean to quote someone. What's so hard to understand? 'Your' way expects everyone else to understand that you don't really mean any relation to what you quote when it may not be clear. 'My' way makes it clear from the get go. Nice to see you go to such lengths just to stay lazy.

Actually, it may have _everything_ to do with it. If your tendency is to hit quote and then go off on a tangent instead of hitting reply to go off on a tangent, that would probably explain a lot.

Actually, (hoping BobbyMike won't suggest my medication be increased) I enjoyed reading some of bkbk's posts. Maybe not the ones after he got spirited away in the night by the white-jacketed men with the big butterfly net. But the others about society did contain some interesting points.

I haven't been paying attention, so don't know if this was mentioned.

The segway was a farthers day gift for the senior Bush. Dean Kaymen went down personaly to show him how to use it. He went with an extra for the Barbara B.

The President was riding the segway, apparently, while holding a tenis racket.

Both Fox News and Tech TV had snippets of this, but neither time I was paying much attention so I may be a little off on some points.
