bright screen blotch -- solution in this thread

Speaking of screen defects...

I have the same screen defect with my brand-new, unmodified Visor Prism that Kylin mentions in his upgraded 16MB Visor Prism thread.

There's this small 5mm^2 area of the screen that is ever-so-slightly brighter than the rest of the screen. This area is situated in the upper-right-hand portion of the screen, about 1.5cm down and left from the upper-right corner. I notice it enough for it to be annoying. Anyone know what causes this and if there's anything I can do about it?

For the record, I don't own any Springboard modules (Kylin mentions this as being a possible contributing factor in his case).

I'm sending e-mail to HS support to see what they have to say about the matter. If I hear anything back from them I'll post it here. Has anyone else heard from them on this score?

Apart from that (patently minor) concern, I'm extremely happy with my Prism. I had a Visor Deluxe before upgrading, and I am very glad that I did so.

Post Same screen flaw, same location

Hi...

I have the same flaw in my screen. I think of it as being "lighter" rather than "brighter" but the size and the location is precisely as you described. It is in the background of the screen and does not interfere with the text. Also, the brighter the screen the less noticable the spot.

I wrote to Handspring and they told me to do a hard reset to see if that cleared up the problem. I haven't had a chance to do the procedure, but I will. If that doesn't work, Handspring told me to return the Prism to the store. The thing is, although the spot does annoy me, I am willing to put up with that rather than put up with all the flickers/shimmers/waves, etc the others Prism owners are talking about.

Even though I have decided to put up with the flaw, I am worried that it might get worse or that is might be an indicator of bigger problems that will show up later.

Nothing is ever easy,
Jo

Post pressure spot on screen

I do NOT have a springboard module in my Prism and, in addition, the spot has been on the screen from the beginning... before I had a chance to even use the Prism and certainly before I ever installed any software.

Cool bloch ***solution***

Me and mcginnj did this and it completely fixed the problem:

Take off the Springboard module slot cover (or remove any springboard module that is currently inserted). There should be two small screws that are right underneath the slot cover or springboard module.

While the Visor power is ON, and while you are looking at the screen, ever so slightly loosen the screw that is closest to the blotch. You should notice that the blotch disappears.

Lightbulb

I had this problem after tinkering with the insides of my Prism. It turnd out that I put the case back together too tight and something inside was pressing against the back of the screen. Much like the LCD displays on calculators change color when you press on them, the Prism screen changes when you press on the back of it.
