Cingular

LeaDxPainT, I live on the east coast and noted an add in the paper this morning stating that Cingular has coverage at 19.99 with free nights and weekends, you might want to see if that plan is available in your area. Of course, you can probably be sure that there are only about 50 anytime minutes

So if i got the 19.99 plan and a visor phone would they just send me the card/chop for the phone, or would i have to buy a phone with the plan and put the chip into the visor phone?

Question Good question

I don't really know, maybe someone else can help you there. I purchased the visorphone and plan at the same time. So.... the card came installed in the vphone.

I think what their going to do is sell you a phone with the plan. But, some of the phones that they have there are free* (with activation). That way you'll have two phones, and the card.

Just read up on it a little and you can buy the phone for 299 USD with out plan with is rediculous. or for 50 with their plans, which are rippoff prices if you ask me.

You don't have to go with the plan on the website. At least I didn't.

Prior to buying the VisorPhone I called Powertel (the only GSM carrier in my area at the time). I told them I wanted to buy the VP but wanted to get a different plan than the one advertised. They said no problem. When the phone comes, just call us up and tell us what plan you want.

So that's what I did. I ordered thru the website - I think the cheapest plan at the time was $60. Then when the phone came I called Powertel & said "I've got my new phone & want to sign up for your $20 plan." They took the SIM card number etc & within a few minutes I was up and running.

Unfortunately after that Voicestream took over Powertel. They tried slamming all their Powertel customers into "new" plans. When contacted by a few attorneys they decided they wouldn't do that. But as soon as your plan runs out you have to go with theirs. I was really enjoying having the same carrier as my wife when we had Powertel - I used the SMS all the time. Now, alas, they've ticked her off & she dumped Voicestream and is going with Suncom. Bye-Bye SMS.

Anyway, you don't have to take the plan on the website - sorry I lost track there for a second.
