Dead Edge

Help! My 13 month old Edge will not hold a battery charge. It will not recharge fully and cannot charge itself enough to do anything other than say 'battery low' before collapsing.

Any ideas? The nice Visor people have offered to replace it for 140 Euros, which is pretty expensive I think for a flat battery.

Put it in the cradle and do a soft reset with it still in the cradle.
This resets the internal charging circuit. If that doesn't work,
make sure the cradle is working. This can easily be checked with
a VOM or DMM across pins 7(+) and 8(-) in the cradle. I think pin
one is on the far right side. I don't have an Edge, and I'm out of
stock on the plugs, so I can't check right now. If the cradle is not
working, see if Handspring will replace it.

Can you turn it on while it is in the cradle? Does the charging light come on while it is in the cradle? I have had a customer with a Prism that had to do a soft reset before it would charge again, and another customer who "Forgot" to plug their AC cord into the Hotsync cradle.
Try turning it on in the Cradle. If it does turn on, you must be getting some juice. You could always pop open the back of the Edge, see what kind of bettery it uses and try to track it down on your own. Somebody must carry the same battery.
