Hi,

is there a way to change the magnifying glass on the bottom right hand corner of the visor's screen to become a hotsync when clicked?

Use a DA Launcher

Never heard of the SilkHack, but the DA (apps too) Launchers let you do the same thing and they are stable and reliable. Using the the AppDALauncher, you can even configure drags, instead of taps. Go to Cute and Funky DAs and look up the launchers...
