Question

I am positive that something in my hard drive prevents me from using Avantgo, and I was wondering if anybody can help me fix it.

When I try installing/downloading Avantgo channels, my computer freezes and disconnects from my handheld. Since having channels on my handheld is very important to me, I next tried the Pendragon browser. To my surprise I was able to use this application without any problems.

I have been contently using Pendragon and never would have thought about the initial problem until I downloaded another very using application (Vindigo) that caused the same freezing. Basically what Avantgo and Vindigo have in common is that both use Mobilelink and libmal (whereas Pendragon does not) to donwload channels, so I'm basically convinced that these two applications somehow cause my computer to freeze when hotsyncing.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems and more importantly, can it be fixed? Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming that you are using Win9x - if not then disregard . . . First disable all screen savers and desktop slide show programs. If this doesn't fix the problem, then try turning off all power saving features on you machine. If this fixes the problem, contact your PC/laptop manufacturer, and complain.
