Unhappy Datebook and HotSync hate each other!

I have tried to fix this multiple ways. I am synching to a IMac 450Mhz. Unitl last week no problems, but now, Datebook synching on my Visor Platinum hangs either timing out and adding duplicates or not adding anything. I have singled it out to just the datebook conduit. Ihave tried to install dbscan but it fails to install. I have done several soft resets, hard resets and a power down reset. Anybody have any ideas????
TIA Leah

What do you mean by fails to install? Can you install other apps to the Visor?

As for your Datebook problem, it sounds to me like a bad record or a corrupted database. dbScan should be able to help if you can get it installed.

When I try to install dbScan, the Visor hangs on the cradle at synchronize (which is weird) and the error message in the HotSync manager is dbScan failed to Install, error # 25616. I didn't have any trouble reinstalling anyhting else yesterday. Should I just do another hard reset and then try to install dbScan? Thanks for the help.

Pardon my ignorance because I know nothing about Mac's... what browser are you using to download dbScan? In the Windows world, I know Netscape has a problem downloading PRC file directly (dbScan is not in a compressed format on Pimlico's site). You may want to try right-clicking the link and selecting "Save As..." (or whatever the save command for your browser is) and see if that allows you to install the app to your Visor with better results.

Hmm...make sure you downloaded the zipped version of dbScan and expanded it using Stuffit Expander. If you downloaded the prc file, it's likely corrupted as Mark mentioned.

I would also try to restore your datebook on the Visor from the Palm Desktop and see if the hotsynch completes.

I am literally ready to throw it against a wall. I have reinstalled the Palm Desktop (again). I did download the zipped version of dbscan. Right now, I can't get the mac to overwrite the handheld in Datebook and I can't get dbscan to install. I wish there was a way to wipe the ROM and reload everything, but apparently there isn't. I did email Handspring, they emailed me Windows instructions.
Thanks for the help!

That's what a hard reset is supposed to do. I suppose you could try removing the batteries for several hours (overnight would be good), install a fresh set, and try again.

Perhaps the trouble is on the desktop side and not the Visor. Again, I know from nothing about Mac's, so I can't be of any help in that regard.

Probably a timeout issue

You should try increasing the preferred memory on the Conduit Manager application. This usually helps memory hungry conduits on Mac. Handspring have something on this on their support site.

I had already increased the conduit manager's preferred memory size to 12 Mb (it started with 2.2Mb). Also, I increased HotSync manager's to 10Mb. I have turned all the conduits off one by one to isolate it to the Datebook+ app. If it is on the Mac side I have no idea a)how to find it or b) how to fix it. The only error code # I have ever seen in the log is #25616. I can't get the conduit to work at all when I select Mac overwrite handheld (it erases stuff) and when I select Synchronize, sometimes it will randomly show up on the handheld with two copies of the same appt. I don't use floating events or weird stuff. Datebook + conduit version is 2.0.0. Could it be a bad conduit?
