Question Layover in Singapore....

...from 1 AM to 10:30 AM! What am I going to do for 9 hours in the middle of the night in Spore? Any of you travelled there before? I've never been there, and would like to walk around a bit or something, but I wonder if it's safe or if there will be anything to do/see in the middle of the night. Any suggestions? I don't drink and I'd like to stay away from 'red light districts', etc. Thanks for the help.

Heading from LA to Shanghai, on Delta frequent flyer miles (that's why it's not a direct flight to PRC). Yeah, I normally sleep at 1am also, but it won't be 1am my time and I really want to do more than try to get some shuteye stretched across 5 bucket chairs with my body squeezed between the armrests and my luggage tied to my wrist

Couldn't you get a airport motel room?

Okay, went to the changi airport website; it said they have those hour-by-hour rooms (no comments please ). So, I figure I'll sleep for a few hours and then try to see at least a little bit of Singapore...from 6 am to 8 or 9 am. Of course, it is a big city

Before 8AM nothing is open in S'pore...
I would recommend you getting into the singapore Airlines lounge.. it's very nice and has everything you need...

Else get on of those by the hour hotel rooms...

Too bad your layover is at night because SingAir has a (free) trourist bus that takes you all over the island for the tourist spots...

Singapore is pretty save and clean so if you can't sleep you can take a taxi and go for some nighttime sight seeing..

P.s. you're lucky you don't drink because alcohol is rediculously expensive in S'pore...

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

Thanks, ToolkiT for the reply. What do you suggest seeing @ 8am (I won't have long - just seems like a waste going through there and not seeing anything )? Thanks again for the advice.

Also, I'm flying SingAir, but do you mean one of those lounges that you have to be a member or something to get into like Crown Room (Delta's)?

-Forgot the name of it, but there is an intersting Hindu temple.
-Boat Quay (better at night, but heck you can put it on the list of places you have been to )
-Raffles hotel
-Colonial style Monestry I forgot the name of
-Shopping centers (if you are into that)
-Hi tech shopping centers... do some research on the net there are a couple of good ones, one which sells a lot of bootleg stuff... always try to pay less than half of what they ask at first...if you don't bargain you are a silly yank
-Underground food courts, great breakfast for really good prices.

Sorry I forgot all the names

I think I have some pics online

3 ways to get in...
1) Fly business/first class
2) have an upgraded frequent flyer card (either Silver or Gold I think)
3) scam yourself in

Ah remember, monestry thingie is called chijmes, Funan is one of the tech malls...

Get a map once you are there, since you are flying SingAir you can use their shuttlebus for free (though I don't know if it operates at that hour... it takes you past all the touristy things..

If you had more time I would recommend Sentosa Island..
