A check of Best Buy in Concord, NH yesterday found not ONE employee with the SLIGHTEST idea what a "Visor" was! They had a couple of boxes sitting out behind the counter, though, and while I was there they were unloading a shipment. It didn't seem like there was anything but Visors, but they didn't have any idea was SpringBoards were or anything else!

BTW - the price on the Palm (8 meg version) was $229. They didn't know what the Price of the Visor's was!

Unhappy

VoxDei, the price of the VDx in KC Best Buys are $249.99. How does Concord, NH score a discount? Any others finding discounted Visors out there?

Ummmm, look again LanMan.
VoxDei said that the price on the PALM was $229, and they didn't know what the price on the Visor was.

Well Huntsville, AL is Handsprung. I stopped by Staples last Friday and yesterday to check if they had gotten thiers in yet... the red shirst just looked at me and went "huh... hand-what?" I went into Best Buys and they had an Blue 8meg and the standard in graphite. Iasked the clerk if the had gotten any springboard modules in and was told no. All of this and my VDx is supposed to be in tomorrow. Oh well. And for reference, the Blue DID NOT have the delux stylus, but had the crappy original.

Thumbs down

Conversation at local Staples:

Grumpy: OH I see you have the Visor!

Staples PDA Guru: Yep, Sure do. Great little unit too! We had orientation on the product this weekend, it is SLICK!

GR: Do you have any of the Springboards?

SPG: Whats a Springboard?

GR: sigh

I stopped at the Best Buy in Roseville MN today and they have Visors in now. I asked the sales clerk about accessories and she said they would only be carrying the serial cradles for now.

There were two people by the Palm/Visor display, one looking at a Graphite Visor, the other a Blue Visor.

I probably would have picked one up if I hadn't ordered one earlier this week.

Thanks for straightening me out Winchell. Looking at all of these VC posts sometimes makes me cross-eyed and dyslexic.

FWIW, the display VDx in Best Buy had the original stock stylus. I don't know if any of the boxed units had deluxe styli or not.

IndyBVD - I stopped in the Indy (Castleton) CompUSA last night and found out that they had received their Visors Tuesday night but hadn't gotten them unpacked yet. The guy even asked what color I wanted - he was ready to sell. No other options or accessories were out yet either.

rbphelan,

Did you buy one?

I stopped by Circuit City and the "red shirt" emphatically informed me that corporate says they aren't going to be carrying HS products for a few months. He said the product hasn't proven itself in the retail market yet.

I keep going to all of the Staples, CompUSAs, BestBuys and Circuit Citys hoping to find accessories. Of all the places I've stopped at, only Staples seems to be excited about the Visor.

I went to CompUSA at lunch to see what accessories they have. The "red shirt" informed me that they don't have anything from HS yet. I told him I read on the 'Net that they got them in last night, to which he replied that

1) I wasn't supposed to know that
2) They only received their display and no merchandise

The Staples in Bloomington, IN had the VDX in graphite and blue and they had the backup module and the 8Mb flash and the golf game. The styli in the display units were all plastic. The guy working the counter said he didn't know anything about them so I filled him in on the product and he now knows more than he did at least. BTW - the display units were actually working models with good batteries in them! That does not happen very often. And no - I did not buy one, I got tired of waiting and bought a Palm IIIxe a month ago. I know, I know.....

Well Southern California seems to be visor crazy. I have been to 3 staples, 2 compusas and two best buys, all of which had visor displays. Unfortunately, I was only able to find one store that actually had them in stock. The rest had already sold out of what they had. Also, I haven't been able to find the stylus five pack anywhere. I bought a graphite one at staples in San Bernadino california, which came with the crappy plastic stylus. I did however see at one Compusa, the stylus in the display model was the deluxe. Kinda odd.

Using my Visor to post this note. Located in an eastern North Carolina university comnunity - Greenville, NC home of East Carolina University.

ECU has come to recognize the power of the handheld computer in a educational setting. Staples here in Greenville sold out of all the Visors they had in stock the day after they went on sale.

You must have talked to a different redshirt than I did. The one that I talked to pulled a PalmV out of his pocket. I also stopped by Staples at 86th and Michigan and they have Ice, Graphite, Blue and another color (box turned wrong way behind the glass) as well as backup modules. I already have an Ice that I ordered the first day to replace a Palm III and love it! I've since received a backup module (everyone should have one) and modem.

Good luck getting one - I'd say to to Staples. They seem to be the most excited at this point.

I work at the CompUSA store in Knoxville, TN. We got our handsprings last week, around midweek. I got my graphite Visor Deluxe Thursday, which replaced my clear palm IIIe. We have our display up, and limited stock on the graphites and two other colors, plus accessories like spare cradles, with the others expected to show up any day now. I know that the local Staples and Best Buy have gotten some in as well. Not sure about Office Max or Office Depot, however.

Hope that helps.

Went to staples tonight and saw the Visor listed as a Windows CE machine. It just reminded me of why I stopped buying at retail stores!
