Question

Hello,
I have a visor deluxe and wanna back up my contacts to my PC. The Palm database software is not included on the handspring cd? Is that a free proggie? Where can I get it? The only 2 options to back up the database are the palm app and outlook? I would like to import tab or comma deliminated text files, thats doable, right? The PDA won't export to ACT? I have an older version.

thx

You can create .csv or whatever from the Palm Desktop app (or Outlook)

Not sure what Palm database program you're referring to. If you're talking about Palm Desktop, it is included.
As far as backing up the database, that occurs everytime you sync. The built in palm databases are backed up to your hard disk. If you are talking about syncing, as opposed to backing up, Palm OS handhelds can sync with nearly every desktop PIM.

If you're asking about Palm Desktop, it should be installed in c:\Palm. Did you run the setup.exe program to install it?

And are you asking how to import an existing contact list that was created in another PIM application that you already had? Or, are you asking about synchronizing data.
Synchronizing is a process that lets you make changes on your handheld or on your desktop PIM and then merge the data. This is what most people do. You can sync between the Visor and most desktop PIMs.

So if you could tell us what PIM you are currently using, and whether you plan to continue using it or if you want to start using Palm Desktop.
