As anyone noticed problems or issues transfering data from Now contact & now up to date into the Palm OS?
Thanks

Question

I was just wondering whether you are in Windows or Mac? I just got my visor so I haven't tried syncing yet, but I have both Now-Up-To-Date and Now Contact.

Yahoo! I think we have a support group here. I have used Now UTD & Contact (for a Mac of course) for years and have a very large data file. I really love the product and resist the idea of switching to ACT or Outlook (I've tried both). I finally got my first PDA (the Visor) right b/f Thanksgiving. I have to say that it was very tedious to set up the initial import of addresses (almost 4K) into the Palm desktop and then to the Visor, but I did it. The result is not perfect but very useful nonetheless.

I have written PowerOn Software, the lastest ownners of Now Contact, et al. They tell me to stay tuned for the updated version which will have better Palm synchronization. Right now, to keep things simple, I am using the Visor as my primary calendar, address book, etc. I upload my data onto the Palm Desktop as a back up. I still use Now Contact for look ups (not too many address changes since November) and e-mailing, and many other wonderful features, but I can't wait to have one file on my computer with appointments, addresses, etc. instead of two.

Let me know if there is some specific challenge I can resolve. I truly believe that Now is far superior over the competition. Let's continue to badger PowerOn to support its PIM to PDA users. http://www.poweron.com

Question

Thanks for the the connection to PowerOn. I also really like Now-Up-To-Date/Contact. Did the PowerOn staff give you any idea how soon they will be releasing the version with Palm syncing?

BTW, are you currently using MAC OS 9? I'm hoping to upgrade soon and would like to continue using the Now software. I'm definitely already hooked on the Visor (my first PDA, but it's only taken 4 days of use to become a daily living requirement!).

It was a more than 2 months ago that I had contact with Power On. In fact, I think it was before I got the Visor. I had another issue regarding the outdated web URLs for looking up addresses, etc. They said this latest version 3.8 would resolve that. On the website the palm synchronization issue is addressed. I know because I went to the support area when I attempted to use Now Synch. Now Synch was crashing my iMac with sys 8.6. Pwr On is going to have a full-featured synch with the Palm in the next version (3.9). I know that the current version (3.8) is OS 9 compatible. I am not anxious to upgrade either yet. I am just one of those folks who like to hang back on the operating sys upgrades. I say why buy trouble. That is unless there is some very groovy, must-have feature in OS 9. I am cruising with 8.6 and Now 3.6.5 so far. I'll post anything else I hear in the future.

I love my Visor too. It is life-changing experience.

If the new version is as good as the old one, I'll switch back too...I have sorely missed the combination of web publishing the calendar and hotsyncing the handheld in one package.

Hope 3.9 comes out soon!! And that it can handle the Visor, not just the Palms.
