platinum hotsync
I just purchased a platinum and cannot hot sync. My old handspring was a visor and it connected without any problems; now when I try to sync with my new unit I get the " The connection between your handheld computer and the descktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again" message. I have tried un-installing and reinstalling, I have used the USB Registry tool, I still can't make the connection. I am using Windows XP on a Sony Vaio desktop. All my USB ports are working even if I switch around my printer, mouse and handspring connections. The only problem is still the platinum. What am I missing?

If it's a new, never-been-hotsynced-before Platinum, you can try a hard reset to see if that helps. Also, check the contacts on both the handheld and the cradle to make sure they are clean. I light touch with a pencil eraser will work to clean them up. You can also try a cotton swab with some rubbing alcohol.

tried the cleaning and hard reset........ no luck still the same
